So is that summer of love festival an annual thing?
Hopefully it will gain a larger attendance with it being the 40th anniversary.

I would love to volunteer in any way possible for the Goodstock '07. I just found the volunteer application on the site....so I hope to see some of you there! It sounds like an amazing thing, and just what this country needs. I would take honor in helping make it possible, in any way I can.

    PEACE

And I know he might be a bit expensive, but wouldn't it be great to see Bob Dylan there?

I looked both of these up.... On either event it's a little difficult to tell when/where anything is actually HAPPENING. But the summer of love fest does give the impression of just being a Cali thing. Sorry, but I just can't travel to the WC for festies right now. :( I looked up GoodStock 2007 (http://www.goodstock2007.com/) and the front page says it'll be happing in West Virginia? I don't know, so far it seems a little unplanned and perhaps amateurish, but we'll see.

Near as I can tell, neither fest has said anything about vending setups and fees, which is the info I most need every time before I'll commit to a fest. If anyone can tell me anything about vending at these fests, please pm me! :)

I can't speak for the guy who is "in charge" of the official website, altho it was pretty much decided to not get too far ahead of ourselves until after the New Year... but yea it WILL be in WV. My latest info is July 19 - 22. The plan seems to be a either a Summersville location which is huge, or an Arnoldsburg location which is smaller depending on the number of tickets sold. Most likely if it is at the Summersville location, the Arnoldsburg location will be used more as a "seed camp" for people who come from out of state early and need a place to camp before the official dates. If that happens, the early camping rates will be pretty minimal, but WON't be part of the ticket price for the main event.

Well, unplanned is not exactly right. Actually the amount of planning that goes into something like this is astounding! We are just helpers, here in WV at this point. "Amaturish" is a pretty relative term, because in the long run, any event is whatever those attending and helping end up making it. If everyone shows up looking to create a wonderful and love filled time of relaxation and good music, then that's what it will be. If folks just come with expectations of a 60's type Woodstock being laid in their laps they could be disappointed. It's COMPLETELY about human participation, human goals. That is why some of the other past "second Woodstocks" were disappointing.

I have no knowledge of what "FAMOUS" bands might end up on the show bill, but keep in mind that most of those bands that played at Woodstock were just really getting started, some had never even played on a big stage before. What made woodstock so great was the MINDSET of the people who came, combined with alot of good entertainment. That is totally possible again if it's what we all want. This is an evolving thing, so if you are really interested, keep checking for more info. But DO plan on WV.

earthmother, I hope you weren't bothered by what I said. I was just trying to pass info along. As interpreted by someone who's been to a zillion fests of every size, I might gauge these things differently from a lot of people. And since I can't afford to just get up and go to any of these events anymore (I'm stationary w/ a house these days, instead of traveling on-foot or in-van) I can only justify going if I know I'll be able to set up and show off my art and at least make my money back.

I know how much work goes into planning these things, and I have the utmost respect! If you're one of the planners/managers for this fest, please check out my work at http://hummblebee.com and contact me with vending and attendance info once you have it available.

BTW - I want to make it clear here that two different fests are being discussed here. The Summer of Love Festival (http://www.summeroflovefestival.org/) is a west coast, California event.
Goodstock (http://www.goodstock2007.com/) is happening in West Virginia.

    :)

To add to the excitement of Goodstock; I am waiting on The Electric Prunes to commit (a personal invite)... things look good all 'round.

There will be an addition to the Festival some may not be aware of. An Arena has been reserved to recreate the SF Ballrooms, with a Light Show even Pink Floyd would envy.:rainbow:

Not only that Tripn but every Light Show ticket will give you entrance to Goodstock's Main Event.. You can't use a Goodstock ticket to enter the Light Show tho.

Hi Folks.. listen, if anyone wants to volunteer to pass out filers, contact radio stations and help get the word out that Goodstock is coming.. you can sign up st www.goodstock2007.com ..We at Goodstock feel that word of mouth is better than bringing in corporate influences.. people have acctully morgaged their homes to keep Goodstock out of corporate hands. To keep it pure and the right energy flowing.

We have the location, we have the bands.. all we need is YOU brothers and sisters, the people.. that's what it is all about. To bring us all together in a grand reunion of LOVE and Rock n Roll.. it's easy.. it's fun and it is extreamly affordable, there will be no goughing or inflated prices.. 100$ for three days which includes a campsite is not asking a lot, that's rounds off to about 33$ for one day of music from some of the best, with fun and entertainment, and most of all the feeling of unity and brotherhood and to experience or re-experience what is was like when all of the Woodstock Nation gathered in celebration of Life back in the day when rock n roll was born.

For some of us it will be our last tribute to what transpired in the 60s/70s and our part in it. A time to stand up and be counted and to show the world that we can bring about most needed change with a little love and unity.
So lets get them fliers out and radio contacts contacted and get this show on the road y'all..

    Brightest Blessings and Loving Energy
