Good things about getting older?

Discussion in 'Random Thoughts' started by Ged, Oct 18, 2018.

  1. I have schizophrenia, a degenerative brain condition, so I think I kind of know what dementia is like...and it's FUN!

From an outside perspective I'm sure it looks horrible, but it's really not bad when you've got it. So I don't think being old will be that bad. Seriously, colors look brighter, you get excited about your ideas and life...it's kind of great.

I've become less paranoid as I've got older, which is truly a blessing.

I see through more like multiple levels and twists of interpretation. I'm talking about news and current affairs.

But I also see through myself more, my own malice of forethought.

As far as I'm aware, schizophrenia is not degenerative. The evidence I've heard is that it eventually burns itself out in middle / later middle age.

What do you mean "burns itself out"?

The illness burns itself out so you don't have episodes of psychosis anymore.

Where did you hear this evidence? Not disagreeing but my older brother suffers from this and have never heard it before. Wish it was true.

I've found one journal article here with a quick search:

NEJM Journal Watch: Summaries of and commentary on original medical and scientific articles from key medical journals
