With respect to HF, one of the more notable Gomer Pyle episodes is Flower Power where Gomer's radio truck was politely commandeered by a group of hippies for the sake of saving flowers that were being shielded from the sunshine by it. Gomer sings the Bob Dylan tune Blowin' In The Wind with the hippies. Moondog was played by Rob Reiner who later became Michael Stivic (Meathead) in All In The Family. Reiner appeared in three episodes of Gomer Pyle in the late 60's.

I remember an episode where Opie and his buddy were playing tricks on Gomer. One of the saddest things I've ever seen. But I learned an even deeper respect for Gomer, and a love I will never forget.
