First of all is disgusting, just the whole idea of it. I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would eat there. But even more disturbing are these commercials I keep seeing for some chocolate fountain. How nasty is that? I can only imagine how many dirty ass people are sticking their fingers and things like used forks in there. They may as well call it the chocolate hepatitis fountain. Does anyone here like this place? uke:
Wait, there are chocolate fountains at Golden Corral? I don't watch commercials and I'm not even sure we have a Golden Corral around here anymore. That's nasty. I'm with you dev!
the company probably has a contract with the government to make people sick and die sooner to reduce this out of control population in this world. cause when i hear the world corral, i think of cows being held... and cows are grown for... well my steak dinner.. i recommend staying away from buffets in general.
There is one about 15 min from my house. I avoid it, and yeah broony buffets in general. That's not to say restaurants have the most sanitary practices but at least the food is sitting around in the open air very long. Plus the buffet clientele is downright scary. I bet the golden corral has the highest concentration of type 2 diabetes than any other place in north florida. haha.
What's up with buffet style restaurants being named ridiculous names like that. We have a buffet called Bonanza. WTF? It's one of the scariest, nastiest places with food on the planet. I'd rather go hungry than eat there. What's up with buffets having a wild wild west theme?
old people love the golden corral I'd eat there, but its not my favorite.. buffets are kinda gross, but I don't think they're as bad as people make them out to be.
Believe it or not I've never been to golden corral that I can remember. I usually get something to go from my local spots or just pop in to some random little place to eat which is always either really good or not so great. As far as sanitation...well I'm scared to know what really goes on back there in the kitchen, in any restaurant really.
cor·ral kəˈral/ noun noun: corral; plural noun: corrals a pen for livestock, esp. cattle or horses, on a farm or ranch. synonyms:enclosure, pen, fold, compound, pound, stockade, paddock More"she was galloping a pony around the corral"
Yes I do. But as I said, at least it isn't sitting out for an hour with people sneezing on it and shit.

I think the real difference is that you aren't aware what happens to it. People who process food sneeze too and probably don't always wash their hands after they went to the toilet.
Ugh, yes, that fountain seems like the grossest idea in the world to me. I mean, in theory, it sounds amazing, but then you think about the reality of it. It's just flowing and out there, so it's collecting every germ and fleck of dust that floats through the air, and as you mentioned the dirty forks and nasty hands that are probably stuck in there. Not to mention the random weird ass shit people would sneak into it. And you know little kids are putting their grimey hands all over the thing. Ugh
i can't stand buffets. I'm pretty picky about restaurants so buffets are pretty low on the restaurant totem pole for me. Its not so much sanitation as it is quality. I have no interest in paying to eat bland, unhealthy food that has been sitting on a hot plate for 3 hours. I have the worst luck with timing with buffets too. I never seem to go when the food is fresh. It always seems like it has been sitting out for at least a couple of hours.
all you can eat sushi buffet here 15bucks.. my gf dont like it cause the fish grade isnt the best, but I like eels. I like it too, cause it is fresh to some degree.. deep fried squid. mmm...
I could go for some squid as well right now. Golden Corral for me moving to USA from uk, was at first a novelty. As others have said now kinda disgusting. There is one, that is always really damn busy about 10 or so from my house in my local town. Lots of fat southerners, of all races, but often lower socioeconomic standing go there. I have been once tht i recall.
Stoners paradise. I'm no germaphobe, and I understand most chains have unruly employees who make others look bad. When I worked in fast food, many of my fellow employees were great at their job. Consistent in sanitation practices and general food practice. There were a few who did questionable things, but this wasn't the norm between us. There's also cameras in many chain restaurant kitchens to prevent things like that happening. Generally speaking, employee misconduct could be disgusting, but wouldn't harm your health. Nothing wrong with a little challenge for your immune system. Not to mention, getting high and going to a buffet of those grand proportions is BEAUTIFUL. the chocolate fountains generally have sticks, not forks. If you're at a buffet, you don't bring your used fork up with you to get more food.... Really. I think you're all over reacting. I understand, buffets are a disgusting show of consumerism, wastefulness, and also tend to cater to a lower class..... But jeez. It's a variety of food for a cheap price. It's pretty awesome. There are also sneeze guards, and people hired to replace dirty spoons and refill food trays. There are guidelines for cleaning standards. They may not always be followed to a T, but corporations train people to do things certain ways. And these rules are enforced by higher ups. Because if they weren't, the inspections wouldn't be passed, and stores would find someone who will follow the rules. Really though. Buffets are the shit and golden corral is one of the best, they have soooo much food and I love it. Chocolate fountains are fun, also.
Being certified in food safety, I don't feel like the disgust with the chocolate fountains is overreacting at all.
