Well, if the injury was to your forearm, the bones involved are the ulna and radius. The tibia and fibula are in the lower leg. But anyway, if you recently had surgery you'll probably get some sort of meds. I believe the thing to do is to emphasize your pain and how it's affected your quality of life. If it's hurting to the point that you're losing sleep, tell him. If it's depressing you and making it hard to perform your normal day-to-day tasks, tell him that. I wouldn't even bring up medication, let him bring it up first. And when he does, mention what meds you were given before and whether or not they worked for you. When you're in his office don't laugh and joke with him, because you're in pain. He'll be watching carefully and evaluating everything you say. If he tells you that he'll prescribe you something don't act overjoyed. If he doesn't prescribe exactly what you want don't argue with him. On your next visit you can always tell him that it didn't work very well, and he might prescribe something stronger. Just be truthful and not over-eager and you'll probably do ok.

    hm, that sucks ._.

Long term pain relief is tricky I think.

The best things for pain I know of are the normal three (aspirin, paracetamol and ibuprofen) and things like codeine and morphine as you know. Oh, and marijuana apparently.

That's pretty much all I know of ._.

Many of them like aspirin and ibuprofen can damage the stomach and GI tract though ._.

I surprised your getting as many meds as you are for that.

i find it hard to believe that a doctor would give you methadone for your pain so early on in the process, and that a pharmacist would convince a doctor to lower your script.

I've had people prefer apothecary quality kratom for pain and muscles over opiates, but most of the kratom out there is second shelf and usually stale. Everyone is individual tho, I just wouldn't givr up trying alternatives that may work better and like the one above said, often nsaids like ibuprofen and such do help even if you need a little of something else to really get there.
Pm is the new effort at "no meds! Therapies!" But you aren't really ready for a lot of that and it sounds like you should have some meds at this point, so it is likely you will get them. But the "pm" thing is as often "on it's own agenda" as not and I see people getting buffaloed into painful and potentially injurious therapies all the time so you kinda have to watch out for yourself. Just stay calm, reasonable and be candid about how you feel and remember, if a therapy hurts too much, it's to be refused until you are ready. Good luck! Hope you get a dr instead of a dink.

Yeah Kratom might be a good bet because it's not as addictive as opiates :)
