So it's been roughly a month since I last did meth. My legs and feet got this tingly/numbing/itching sensation, my toes are dry and a little purple. My resting heart rate is around 88-95. Either my nerves or my kidneys got messed up and if it wasn't for xanax, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night because it really is that bad and I think I'd go crazy without it... Anyways, what would be my best way to explain this to the doctor that I've only seen once?

I've tried it all: Proper nutrition, hygiene, hot/cold showers, exercising, yoga, vitamins, lotions. Nothing seems to be helping. I also did a lot of research on this and I think i have the Peripheral neuropathy which seems to be irreversible.

Any help at all is appreciated, really need some advice.

I'm a 19 year old male, 6 feet, 175 pounds. I eat pretty healthy stuff, exercise whenever I can so I don't think it's diabetes. Thought about it though, could be...who knows :l

I doubt it's the xanax since xanax is the only thing that makes the pain "go away". And I've been using it for years for my social anxiety.

Also forgot to mention the middle-back pain, sweating and getting an extremely itchy rash whenever I sweat. Could be a kidney infection.

I just hope the treatment doesn't cost a fortune, my folks are already pretty stacked with the loans and It'd kill me to have them pay for my drug use.

Any Idea how I should start the conversation with the doctor? Don't think I can sleep tonight just thinking about it.

Thanks, guess that's my only best way out of this.

    Direct, I respect that.

To be fair, I wouldn't exactly call myself a "Meth Head" since I've only done it 5-7 times but had quite the history with amphetamines and coke. Guess I just went too far...

EDIT: Just got back. Most awkward doctor visit I ever had. He Gave me Gabapentin and if that doesn't work, he'll send me to see a neurologist.

He gave you a psych drug? You need a medical doctor, not psych drugs.

    Your symptoms:
tingly/numbing/itching sensation, my toes are dry and a little purple.
middle-back pain, sweating and getting an extremely itchy rash whenever I sweat.

That sounds like toxicity to me. It was the purple toes that made me think of diabetes. I think you should get a second opinion, mention those exact symptoms and don't say anything about street or psych drugs.

One thing you can do in the meantime is make sure you're drinking 64 ounces of spring water each day (like, religiously).

Do you ever feel buzzing or vibrating in your head, feet, groin or back? Spiritual people talk about "ascension" symptoms and / or "kundalini" energy, both of which are said to have sensation symptoms including tingling and itchiness, so that's another thing to consider.

    http://www.ascensionsymptoms.com/

Care statement, just to say it: drugs are bad for you.

I'm already drinking a ton of water daily. I get up every 45 minutes to take a leak hoping the symptoms get better. I feel like my feet are gonna get amputated. The numbness and tingling is so bad that without the xanax, I'd be lying on a hospital bed right now.

Gabapentin doesn't seem to do a damn thing and my benzo supply is running very low. When I told him about it, he just said that xanax only works temporarily and that my tolerance would build up quickly.

He did various tests on me like poking my feet with a tooth pick which I could feel pretty well. Took my heart rate which I already told him was very high, around 100 which hits the tachycardia level. Thought he'd give me something to lower or at least control it like a beta blocker or something but nah. All he gave me was Gabapentin which doesn't seem to do shit

At the end they also took my blood, 4 tubes.

I really don't know what I'm supposed to do. All he said was to come back in 2 weeks and if the gaba doesn't help, he'll refer me to a neurologist. But two weeks seem like years with this fucking pain.

And about the Ascension, I really don't know. My feet feel more like I'm constantly walking on pins ESPECIALLY when I'm sitting or laying down. When I'm walking, it doesn't seem to bother me as much but when I sit down and try to relax, my feet get cold, sweaty, tingly and numb all at the same time. My thighs get the same, just not as bad. The smallest toes on both of my feet seem swollen and the sides are a bit purple. My knuckles and my finger tips are starting to get dry and a purple as well and I feel like I have to crack my back every few seconds with little results, it just hurts. Fuck my life

Were you honest and tell them the drugs theat you did, so they could have more clues into their trying to figure out what is going on with you?

I hope you get better soon.

It sounds like you hurt yourself pretty badly. I believe you can heal but that would depend on not using drugs anymore and loving your body back to health.

Feeling like you have to crack your back.. do you feel pressure there? If I was a doctor, I'd consider that to be an emergency. Did he check your spine? I think your doctor sucks and you should be overnight in a hospital being thoroughly checked. Your symptoms scare me.

Yes, I told him everything straight up.

Told him about my history of adderall use/abuse, how I did cocaine from time to time and how I did meth few times. Then he mentioned how he rarely sees drug users with these kinds of symptoms...said i might have lazy leg syndrome or Peripheral neuropathy.

I hope to get better too, appreciate the support man

Yeah, that's what I got out of that hehe.
And I just felt down that the doc didn't diagnose me any further, wish he'd give me that referral to see a neurologist so I can know what's up with me instead of giving me these worthless Gabapentin pills. Seemed like he was guessing on what I have and what to give me.

I don't feel much pressure in my back, it's more like a weakness, like something's loose. In times like this I'd hope for a stroke or a heart attack so they can take me in and diagnose me more thoroughly. And yeah, the doc I went to didn't seem to know what was up with me or what to give me. I've been clean for a month now, only been on xanax to ease the pain because without it I'd literally go crazy. I wouldn't want anyone to experience the pain I'm having right now, it's really uncomfortable, can't sleep at night.

I'll tell you this though, if I get out of this, I'll never touch any of that shit again. You hear these stories about these people with these health problems from these fucked up drugs and you just don't think it will ever hit you as hard, but then one day, boom. I think most people have to experience these things for themselves in order to realize how precious their body really is.

EDIT: Gabapentin I think is actually helping a little bit, my thighs feel better. It's mostly my back and feet that's bothering me now. Someone asked me if I felt pressure in my back, I do, and lots of pressure. Most of it is in my middle-upper back. I think I'll just wait out the 2 weeks and see how I feel then. I'll try to update everything for the people that care and I really do appreciate the support.

Check your weight daily. I wouldn't rule out diabetes, you don't have to be unhealthy to have it. Get to a doc immediately if you start loosing weight.

I knew a guy who didn't even know he had diabetes, lived fairly healthy, then one day he started loosing weight. He ate like two horses but still lost 60 pounds in 2 months. He was diagnosed with type 2, given a 10% survival chance over the next couple of months. He made it, through exercise and extremely watchful eating.

Anyway... it may or may not be, I have no idea. You need a doc you feel comfortable with, I think, someone who genuinely wants to help

Nurse called, said the doc had to reschedule cuz of something. So now instead of seeing him in 2 weeks, I'm seeing him in a month. He didn't give me anything for pain. My back is constantly hurting from top to bottom, my feet are swollen (especially my toes). Tingling in the thighs, feet. Can't sleep. My feet and hands get really sweaty. Constant rapid heart rate, sometimes drops suddenly and then starts up again or the other way around... (tachycardia) Feel cold all the time even in a 75 degree temp as if I was still on the uppers. I tried to exercise but I seem to get all the symptoms of a heart attack...pain in the right chest/shoulder, shortness of breath, heart feeling like it's on crack. I'm really having some dark thoughts because of this shit...

And when the nurse got my weight, it said 185lbs which is what I always weighed. They took 3 blood samples that day and then called me up a few days ago to come in to take 2 more . But I don't see how it could be diabetes...2nd or 3rd meth use I started to have these tingles in my thighs thinking they'd go away but they never did...thinking the toxins fucked up my nerves.

Peripheral neuropathy seems to be the best fit but what do I know? I'm 19 years old with all these fucking health problems -_- Thinking I was a hardcore bodybuilder in my high school years blows my mind. Fuck meth.

If this is tru ask your doc to try some nitro spray or pills due to it being a vasodilator. Nitro is used for people with cardiac/heart issues and angina pectoris to open up your arteries and increase blood flow to get past clogged pipes in ur heart or hypoxic part of ur heart. Same thing with Viagra and cialis, basically increases blood flow but to your johnson. Worth a try but never seen a 19yr old get nitro, maybe there's other meds to help too. Maybe the xannies help because it calms ur nerves taking away that pins and needles sensation u experience.

The swollen areas could be some form of edema, fluid build up in areas of your body usually lower extremities due to gravity. Also it's usually the left arm/left chest/left part of jaw that numbs up or hurts during myocardial infarctions(aka heart attacks) but that is not always tru. While these symptoms are common you can have a heart attack and not even feel pain or suffer a stroke or cva and not have any body paralysis or facial droop. Just depends on the person and what affects their body receives.

You need treatment they aren't going to be able to give you because they keep trying to treat symptoms, not the problem. They're not treating you as you should be treated, they using treatments within the system provided for their business to operate by. As long as they run their machine by the numbers, what happens to you doesn't really matter. It's not complete ignorance, though people'd be a-fucking-mazed at the stupidity of too many secular physicians, it's pass through the system who cares laziness and billing. Plus, you told the idiot or fucker, not sure, that you use drugs.
But I understand that you are 19 and wanted some help.
What you need is a month of detox that-gets-what-doesn't-just-wash-out, NO destructive drugs like gabapentin and more direct attentive care. You should be better in a month unless something is found later that delays or limits your recovery. I'm concierge, which means "like the old days when pt.s mattered" and what they could just as easily do is let you think you are bad off so the next thing is "getting you some obamacare!" Then you really will be screwed.
Where in the world are you? US? I should think less than $100 of actual therapeutic treatment has high expectation. It is hard for people to get their head around the idea that people are allowed to continue in sickness, made sick or injured purely for business profit, but it is true.
