Going to Liverpool this afternoon with some friends ! music in the Cavern then along Mathew street to get " wankered " What are your favorite Days Out ?
There is nothing to do ever, except get "wankered," and I am not much into that these days. I have always wondered, though, what exactly most people do with their free time. It seems like other than boring, pedestrian shit like going to the mall, going to the movies (most of which are garbage), hanging out at some bar or club, going out to eat, etc... there isn't really much to do "out there" in the "real world." When I do go out, I prefer outdoor activities like biking or going for a walk in a park somewhere (often as a solitary activity) as opposed to going to some place where people congregate, which always seem to be full of noise and stupidity. I'd much prefer to just stay at home, read a book, surf the net, learn something, discover new music, watch a movie or documentary, SLEEP etc. It seems these days like all I do when I leave the house is go to work, the grocery store, or the gym. Other than that, I don't have much of a life, and I am really not sure I want one if it's what most other people consider "having a life" to be. I almost think it's better to be a hermit, because so much of what goes on OUT THERE just seems to be a lot of nothingness to keep people preoccupied and entertained. Bread and circuses, basically. Sorry if this sounds like a rant (it's not), but you brought up something I often think about when I think of people "going out."
I'm not going out much either, these days. I'm low on funds, not much into tanking beer, my friends are busy during the week and the weather sucks In summer I always like to chill in the park where lots of people congregate but you can still be as solitary as you want. I don't think I ever get enough of that! I do enjoy the wintry and my solitary times a lot as well though
I rarely go out unless it's derby related. When the weather is nice, I like to spend my weekends deep in the mountains. Wilderness > any bar/nightclub
I went 'out' when I was younger... now life is busier, and when I have time to get together with good friends we tend to just all go to someone's home and eat and drink and talk together. Maybe play a game. Most nights are spent at home though, with my wife or by myself. I see a couple of movies every year in theatres, but usually wait until I can watch them at home. Mostly, I read a lot.
Fridays often find me at Atwood's Tavern in Cambridge, Mass. The Tim Gearan Band, one of my fav bands in the world, has had a Friday-night residency for years. It's a friendly place with great beer and good food, too. It's a place where they know my name. The band doesn't start playing until 10:45 so if you want a table, you have to go early and sit a while.
I'm not one to "go out", either. In the summer, though, I'm either working 70 hours a week or outside, exploring a new area, hiking, going for walks. No conversation, overpriced drinks, bad music? Nah, I'll pass. Let's go rock climbing instead! Or have a bonfire and a few drinks. The winter gives me serious cabin fever.
Yeah... Idk, since I don't go out and drink or go out hiking and smoke or any of the things I used to do... I pretty much go out to eat when I can.. went to a great Vietnamese place recently which I was surprised this small town had a very decent pho place.. anyways... It sucks this time of year because the things I pretty much do are always outside...farmer's markets, flea markets, hiking, spending time at lakes and parks and water parks (with Cason) and just...anything outside. But yea, it's winter so we still go to farmer's markets... and I walk around stores and look at vitamins and health food... it's really not exciting but it's something to do or I look around book stores. Hate this time of year really though and can't wait to be able to just get outside more.
I don't really go out anymore unless I'm out of town. When I'm at home we usually just get together with friends and hang out at someones house. I'm headed to Chicago this weekend so we'll go out one of the nights and have a few drinks. Nothing stupid....hopefully. The last time I did that in Chicago it took me 6 weeks to recover. We do go out for happy hour every Wednesday with a big group of people though. It's more just to sit around at our favorite restaurant bar where we are regulars and know all the other regulars and servers. It's like hanging out with family every Wednesday. I'm not really a bar/club type of person. Most weekends you can find me hanging out with friends or at my dads farm riding 4 wheelers and shooting guns.
No good places to go hang out around here. Good music usually requires a road trip, at least. Can't deal with low quality cover bands.
Mediocre jam bands can be fun enough to have a great time with! If they do not jam it can often get on your nerves indeed because their (lack of) skills become more apparent.
Well what a bunch of happy fuckers we are :daisy: Yes I too like to walk in the park/hills whatever But yesterday I went Out :2thumbsup: We went to the cavern Club which is buzzin on a Friday some good acts on (yes a lot of Beatles songs but its the Cavern ) All you can eat Chinese In town, Then back on the train taking the piss out of all the other usually merry passengers :sunny: This thread (by the way) is about going out all those who don't like going out no need to post (or thumb down ) Go start a staying in thread :hide:
everyday.i rarely go a day or a few without being out i'd get withdrawals symptons for lack a fresh air. ha! ha! our town is always buzzin' day an night.always something going on and loads ta do.is the hub cafe still going strong in liverpool ?
Kids really put the kibosh on going out. After she's in bed, I might get really cray cray and dip into the boxed wine and watch hgtv.
i don't often go out to the bars, but i do enjoy going out to other places. the bar is alright sometimes though. i go to concerts somewhat often. there is one tomorrow at water street...you wanna go Pressed_Rat? i like going bowling, or to the movies. we just went to the "dollar theater" that shows older movies for cheap. that was fun. and most of all i just like going out..side. i like going on bike rides (it's also my main transportation, even in winter). i like going for walks in the park, even if it's winter. you don't have to let the cold stop you from enjoying the outdoors. you just have to dress for it. but in general.."going out" sounds like going to the bars. and i'd rather stay in usually. unless there is a good band playing.
