He hehe when u mentioned cos it feels good...i started daydreaming about walking on sand... hehe its such as coincidence that u mentioned it...
Yes we are cool. I try to get along with everyone. I just get all uppity when anyone helps seed anti-barefoot thinking. I already have to deal with people wondering if I am spreading disease by not wearing shoes. I just want people to become educated with the facts and not with old wives tales that their parents drilled into them.
I totally agree with you. I don't wear shoes because of personal preference. I don't like the way it feels to have anything on my feet, plus in my opinion it looks kinda cool when people go around barefoot, kind of like a primitive thing or something. This is an Archie comic someone else posted. It's from SEP 1970 and reflects the typical "fad, scene, and trend" during the height of the hippie movement. Comic strips, such as the Simpsons, etc. Normally bring into light pop cultural signs of the times.
Point taken *friendly winks* Its a great feeling knowing that i am still very young Hehe i am indeed 20 n not posing 2 be 20 ...I guess at the time wen i wrote that comment it felt as though it was a long time.. I was possibly between the ages of 6-9 years old....when i liked being barefooted
I'm kinda amateur when it comes to a green lifestyle I think it's something I can adopt gradually. I love going barefoot especially in the summer, naturally it gives me a heightened sensation of a connection with my environment and really contributes to the overall experience especially if out and about within nature. Jandals are cool, I normally reserve them for going places with dirty pavement however.
I buy Simple shoes, they are made of hemp and recycled tires. It is way too wet and cold here for me to go shoeless. Also, the constant fear of stepping in dog poop or stepping on a needle or broken beer bottle. No good. I have nothing against going barefoot and I like it when I am at the beach or camping... but I have no desire to do it all the time.
I take off my sandals when I can but I don't want to get stepped on by hard shoes when in a crowded place, and I don't want to burn my feet from the hot sidewalk, and I don't want to get even more warts on my feet, and I don't want to catch anything else like that. If I lived in a place where earth was more prominent as ground I'd be bare all da time
ice covers the ground for at least 4 months out of the year shoes are a buck at the thrift store and my feet are ugly
I can see how someone could say going barefoot is thinking "green" even though I really dislike the phrase myself. I see it as more of something that puts me in touch with my environment. If its cold outside my feet take most of the cold and it keeps my body warm. Not to mention, shoes really don't help protect your feet. My friends and I went urban exploring and my bf got a nail stabbed through his foot while I was barefoot and unharmed. I don't slide my feet when I walk anymore so even if I don't look at the ground I'm still protected
I went barefoot for years, and have the scars to prove it. Broken glass, thorns, sharp sticks and rocks, rough surfaces, hot sand and such will ruin a nice pair of feet. there are also parasites that enter through the exposed skin in contact with the ground, different kinds of hook worms, etc... I and my wife were even thrown out of a department store once for being barefoot, 1972. I recommend flip flops, cheap bought ones, or make them yourself. I have even used cardboard and rubber bands to make them. Back in the day, the old timers made them from tires, but that was before steel belts. Use you imagination, and good luck.
I don't think shoes are bad or anything like that. If able, barefoot is awesome, but the unfortunate fact is that I live in the city, and refuse to walk around here barefoot. There is no problem with shoes, in my eyes, so long as they're comfy and long-lasting.
I agree with this. I go barefoot often but do occasionally wear shoes. Buying clothing, shoes, household wares, etc. is a great way to be green and cut down on consumerism.
I'm A Fulltime Barefooter, Haven't Worn Shoes For Years, Up Until Reading This Thread I Never Considered The "Green Aspect" Of Something I Do Just Because I Love It... *rubs chin and adopts thoughtful pose*.... Cheers Glen.
I go barefoot as often as I can but Wisconsin has seasons that aren't practical for bare feet I also love hiking and doing that without shoes also sucks. Simple shoes are a good brand, though they are costly
I go barefoot as much as possible weather permitting. I wear a pair of center seam mocs that I made. However once it gets cold (Ohio) I like my warm feet and wear shoes and socks. I read the history of shoes on wikipedia and shoes have been around a very long time. especially mocs and sandals. Thinking of the whole being closer to the earth thing, It's all good and personal preference. I prefer to be shirtless and am completely comfortable in nothing but a breech cloth. I make those to. It's just not always practical.
