I try and get on with people, regardless of what they look like. It's actually extremely narrow-minded to judge people like that.
Maybe it is narrow minded, but I cant even stand looking at an emo. Like it or not, we all judge people by their looks. And we choose whom to talk to or something, also based on how the person looks.
DUDES/people! He asks, "what other cultures don[?] you like" and proceeds to list emos, chavs and what I guess must be goths. Hasn't ANYBODY of you noticed NONE of these groups of people can be described as a CULTURE?? A culture is a group that shares ethnic heritage, language and religion, among other things. I don't have any of the three possible options in my direct circle of friends (only metalheads and a more indefinable and diverse sort of alternative people), but don't have any reason to dislike them, not as a group, and not individually. I'm not ALL tolerant of course, as I do hate gabbers and would love to see the streets cleaned of their sort.
A goth, I guess. Yeah, I get that. And I don't even wear bandshirts or other black clothing often anymore. Silly people...
Ah, a goth. I thought that is what the OP meant, but I figured I should ask since there was a chance of it being some new term going around with the younger generation these days. I don't pay attention to any of that, so I am rather lost . Anyway, I don't care what subculture people are into. My friendship with them is based off of personality and such, not what they listen to/dress like/whatever. I will admit, I seem to take well to those into the gothic subculture. A small portion of the music I like would also be considered goth. I am not into the whole emo thing at all, but I do not judge those who are. They are allowed to like what they like. I have no idea what chavs are, but whatever they are, I would accept them just the same.
I dunno I guess I feel sorry for them. It depends on who they are though. It just some people take themselves entirely to serious. I feel sorry for them if they let there fad or lifestyle distract them from living. I mean why sit and your room and talk about how much your life sucks when you could be out shooting things or socializing or building things.
I know see your point, but it's not just the dress sense of these people - it's the way they fucking are (especially Chavs). They start shit over nothing - aided by huge amounts of chemicals or fuelled with alcohol, these little bastards don't need a reason to start. Not ALL people in tracksuits are cunts like these, obviously. People into sport and who actually have a life that might wear typical Chav gear are approachable. I have long hair and listen to Metal and that's about it. My dress code and footwear suggests nothing, but I'm forever gettin called a 'goff' or 'mosh ed'. If I wore black lipstick make up and stupidly big shoes, I could begin to understand.. but they are so close minded, everyone must dress like a target. I've noticed that *some* Emo groups (I've come into contact with) have this way of talking to each other that's reminiscent of a cheesy American accent and that's.. just.. weird. But whatever, at least their not bricking people's windows and goin sick on each other coz they can't handle their beer. As far as I've noticed, Goths keep their heads down and have a certain way of walking (especially with them huge shoes on and leather clothing). But again it's all about personality. People who judge others on looks shouldn't, but it happens all the time. I don't look at these Goths and think 'miserable bastards' or any negative attitude towards them. I just think 'good for them'. If I had an interest in it, I'd take it further to develop an understanding of the subject. Until people (no matter what they wear) introduce themselves, you can't judge them. But Chavs usually introduce themselves in a shitty way and always try and intimidate you, or rip the piss or whatever. When it comes to Chavs, you don't really need an open mind to see what they're like. They fuck it up for themselves.
