Okay, if they were the first couple, and they had a kid named Cain, and Cain builds a city, there weren't enough people to even run the stores in the city. I mean, I get a picture of Adam or Eve walking into a store with Cain standing behind the counter looking pretty bored, and them asking, "So, Cain, how's business?" And what could Cain say in reply but, "Well, pretty slow today, just like yesterday and the day before." And what could Adam or Eve say in response but, "Well, with only several people on the whole planet, that figures." And if Adam was any kind of father at all, he would probably say something like, "Ya know, Cain, it's good to plan ahead and all, but building this city was just . . . ridiculous."

 

Well what makes the people he inspired to write it any different from you or I? If God was able to communicate with the people who wrote the bible, then he should be able to communicate with each and every one of us on a one-to-one basis since we are his creation.

They are no different than you and I. Some were kings, fishermen, prophets, tax collectors, Jesus half brother James. Etc.
But he does communicate, we pray directly to him, heartfelt prayers and how he communicates with us is thru the bible. Have you ever sat down and really read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. In a readable translation, not that King James Version, nobody talks like that.
Also, the letter by Paul to the congregations. Then of course Revelation, it is intense stuff and incredibly wise. Jesus teachings to his apostles and to the people are really cool and of course he had the ability to cure and raise the dead and he fulfilled prophecy It was a preview for the future. Jesus bucked the Jewish system because they had too many man made traditions, wearing thier titles on there sleeves and suppressing the people with great burden. They hated in thier hearts and he called them out on it. He was to earth to be a model for us to emulate best we can, say the teachings and words that are in the bible and then died as a ransom sacrifice, giving up his perfect fleshly body as an exchange for what Adam gave up when he sinned. Which was his perfect body and mind.
Satan has been ruling the world since the first human pair..

 

Is kindness the way? Depends on where you want to go. Is kindness your way or do you forget where you are because you saw an unfamiliar road sign that said scenic overlooked and have to take a detour to get back on? Are you Mormon? What do you think about the book of Mormon? Do you think it was inspired by God as it is claimed? I suspect there are Christians that have an answer to this (why they KNOW certain books are the word of God while others are not) but I'm interested in whether you have one and could explain it to me.

 

I am not a Mormon. But no, John Smith was not inspired by God to write the Book of Mormon. If you read the last part of Revelation, it says that no one will add to the scrolls. So Revelation is it. Last. Final communication.

 

Was the book of revelations the last book of the bible to be written (chronologically)? Was the chronological order of writing the same as the order in which books appear?

 

A body that dies is a shabby home for a holy son of god. The vultures gather around the body. The spirit soars. You have not studied for yourself, you have aped others conclusions and you say you have learned first hand. I know you but gossip and pass along hearsay as you say they, not knowing the face of any. If it is true if we ask god for forgiveness then we will be forgiven, then why when jesus asks in his own name on our behalf, father forgive them they know not what they do, and god gives what we ask and what god gives is truly given then why would god then require his carcass as payment. The apostle John wrote Revelation and then John on the island of Patmos around 98 ad. I think he was close to a 100 years old.

If a man says he is inspired who are you to say he is not. That no one adds to a complete composition doesn't suggest in any way that there is no additional or ongoing communication. As I explained to you before your stubborn refusal to consider that god does not abide by any prohibition you might imagine ensures that you will not recognize those who appear when you do not expect. I know you haven't expected me nor do you realize who I am. As little known and appreciated as I am by you, as you do to me you also do to the whole kingdom and as specifically stated also to him.

What makes you think i can't see humor. Is it because you can't see my amusement through my deadpan style? I can't appreciate an apology where none was anticipated or expected. You say sorry when I hadn't noticed any violation whatsoever. You are a dynamic human being which includes being kind but it also includes as part of the human tool set, occasional or maybe enduring irrational fears. Depending on our attachment to our comfort zone any of us can be pressed out of it into a vicious counter attack regardless the offender having any idea of where ones sensitively concealed parts are located nor how much any statement may weigh on a listener. I am surprised each and every time you fall into default alarm at my comments to you. Seems like we could have this conversation once and have it suffice to keep your past insecurities from being confused with our present association with each other. I always present the same way with integrity of speech and unreserved and rapt attention. I may seem brutally direct at times but being direct and truthful is not a sign of malice. If I did sincerely and directly insult you it would take you a while to get back to baseline and it wouldn't inspire the suspicion that you get because you aren't sure what i am saying. You wouldn't be hanging in for clarification. If people recognize you here they recognize me just as much and are familiar with my variety. The actual first people on earth are anonymous to us. It is fair to assume they were not called Adam and Eve. But like I said and since we're in the religion forum: I see no problem if others believe it was them But there is really not much point in discussing this. It is a matter of belief to say they are not anonymous to us.

There are also billions of other people united in their particular beliefs. It is all ok. About you saying people were told to think a certain way about it, this counts as much for the kind of christian you are posing as.

Hey, we are all free to assume we are right in our spiritual beliefs and others are not, but really how useful has it proven to actively bother eachother with that? The best decision you made about that was when you quit making your pseudo serious evangelizing threads allover the forums and said you would do that in only one subforum.
Because we all know displaying a certain kind of belief as the truth and others as false and go preach stuff like you're bad for not thinking/believing like me is simply an attempt at confrontational provoking, a subconcious urge for negative attention or at best (f you were sincere) a display of wishful thinking. To assert that a position is true because you absolutely believe in it is not evangelically effective. To convince, you have to respond to questions asked about your view in a way that satisfies and intrigues. Our resident wanna be authority is like seeing jw at the door. Not in principle, but I do have issues when the "spiritual lives" of people revolve around statements of fact with which I DO have issues (ie, the bible is the perfect literal word of the creator of the universe)

Yes, people also have their own thoughts, beliefs and opinions about physics, that doesn't mean that we need respect their opinions, or leave them unchallenged.

Why wouldn't it be an issue? Do you not take spirituality seriously? The beginning of everything? The meaning of everything? I take these things seriously, and when I encounter a claim in these domains, I take that claim seriously, and give it at least as much critical thought as I do when shopping for vegetables at the grocery store.

Beliefs are the mental facts around which we structure our behavior. Beliefs matter, maybe more than any other kind of mental event, because they define the material discourse which occurs on this planet. I don't know what you mean by "It SHOULD all be good", because I don't see that that's the case at all. Beliefs about spirituality are often statements of fact, and deserve scrutiny and investigation, both into their veracity and into their consequences.
