A sunset. Well, there it is, folks! PROOF THERE IS A GOD. Ha ha... I love ya, Matt. Say, is Vegas still as cheap as it was in 1994?
Sure, you reply when Kris and you agree, and just totally ignore my acknowledgement that I felt the same as you. Sometimes I just wonder why I even bother, oh yeah, it's something to do. Anyway, regarding the pain in the arse thing, I don't mean to be one on purpose, but it has been something that since I was very young, like 6 or 7, came naturally. I have learned to accept it. But I was wondering if that is the same, cuz I know some people get a kick out of being a pain, but I just can't seem to figure out how not to. I do my best, but I long ago gave up hope that that was going to work. I was only kidding, my feelings are fine, still feeling the same, no worries. You know I would be an atheist if it weren't for my own experiences, atheism is neat and tidy, sensible, and needs no outrageous mechanisms to be true. How much easier my life would have been.........sigh.
Dear Libertine, What exactly do you want proven? It seems you have a very precise idea about what God is (or rather, what God is not - sorry). I may be wrong but it also seems that you find your inherited theology, the theology you were brought up to believe (or not) to be . . . inaccurate? . . . counterintuitive? . . . not reality-oriented? I don't know if I understand whatever it is you reject. It is quite possible that our arguments (for and against the existence of a divinity) are actually based on two very different, non-contradictory ideas. It's kind of like two very stubborn philosophers, each one incessantly tries to convince the other that he has the ultimate, definitive understanding about the nature of the world. One insists the world is very big while the other insists the world is very old. Of course, they may both be true. Who knows why it has never occured to either of them? Not only that, but, there may be even more that is also true. I don't know if I understand whatever it is you reject. But, believe it or not, I do appreciate and admire the "theological housecleaning" that you appear to be going through. It takes considerable courage to insist that the divine, if it is to merit one's belief at all, must conform to the highest standard of what is true and good and decent. Now, if you can just transcend your faith, your belief about what God "isn't," then you may be on to something. The question remains - What exactly do you want proven? Peace and Love
if there is a god, then why do people look up to god? why would god create us if god was not learning something from our existence?
If they have nothing to worry about, they end up worrying about nothing. An optimist feels we live in the best of all possible worlds, a pessimist fears that is true. Happiness is a choice, for the most part. Woody Allen, "If there is a God, all I can say is he's an underachiever." I think that if there is a God, it must be really hard to not get bored. Been there done that takes on a whole new meaning. After the first couple billion years, it seems like it would start to be the same old same old. But, I must say, looking around at this world, God does have a sense of humour.
Lol! A person with just his right eye open will see what's there with a slightly different perspective than the person who just has his left eye open but only the person with both eyes open will be able to see where "there" is.
Quantum mechanics, the dreams stuff is made of. Love may be blind, but marriage is a real eye opener. Despite the high cost of living, it is still as popular as ever. Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die. If you say you can't complain, you're not trying hard enough. How can something be 'too weird'? I thought weird pretty well covers it. Anyone here who believes in telekinesis, please raise my hand.
I don't believe in burning books but if I did I'd start with the dictionary. If anyone tells you he's been to the top of the mountain you know he's a liar; if anyone ever really made it to the top of the mountain they'd be left forever speechless. --Some chinese guy
I don't believe in burning books either, but I do have to admit that the Bible and people's "interpretations" of it has fucked this world up more than the Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf put together.
