This is what I mean by 'bluffing'.
ANY Sunday School Child and most non-Christians who pay attention are already WELL AWARE THE WRITERS ARE THOUGHT TO BE INSPIRED BY GOD!

Whats next.. walking into a highschool and DENOUNCING ANY MISCONCEPTION THAT TURKEY IS BOTH A COUNTRY AND AN ANIMAL!

    Wow.. You really told them!

Well actually, these 'Opinions' may very well be based on evidence beyond a reasonable doubt.
They may also be accepting the correct opinion.

Its not a 'Problem' and I have far more reason to believe it is the Word of God - so why would I want to 'let go' of a reasonable conclusion?

    This is simply not true.
A select group of 'Liberal Scholars' (sometimes associated with 'Higher Critisism or The Jesus Seminar and PROMINANTELY and repeatedly featured on A&E/History/Discovery Channel Documentaries)
This small group would try and sell that theory.

The majority of scholars (from all over the spectrum but not counting A&E) would not agree with that fashionable theory.

Dont worry if you have no proof, ,, niether do the handful of scholars who push that theory themselves.

Oh ohhhh .. hehe.. Oh no! ;)

    Ohhhh You GOT HIM HA!

    No, sorry.. hehe.. just kidding.

I guess you didnt notice but Genesis CHapter 1 opens with a sort of 'big picture' of the first days of Creation... then in the next Chapter the Author starts from the beginning again, this time offering more details and and also continues on for centuries of events after that.

Once again.. dont bother 'trouncing God and Moses' without having VERY VERY fundamental understanding of what your misreading entirely.

Ok we already discussed why you read it twice - because the author writes the same account twice in the same book.
    Fine.

Again.. you saw or read some highly speculative theory put forward by a handful of liberal scholars and have simply accepted it as fact.

More interesting - Hebrew Sholars do not find anything 'weird' about different writing 'styles' being used in different 'presentations' of Genesis.
This is because they are far more familiar with unique writing styles and 'ways' of the old days.

Its always some Americans or Europeans who are 'Very worked up' about what is 'changing presentation styles'.

I vaguely remember this book or at least somethign by Thomas Paine (??)

The last time I was DARED to read a book that would change my 'opinion' it was Bertrand Russels 'Why I am Not a Christian"... and it was the actualy 'Turning Point' for me to becoming a Christian.

At 12 years old I could recognise what a tremendous failure this book was.. and I thought there must be something to this Bible if THIS is the best the critics have got?

then are my poems inspired by God too?
    I say yes.
and here is my bible verse to back it up.

I'm sorry, but Epiphany and Brocktoon, you both lack the rationality needed to have this discussion... you try and pick up on the smallest thing and blow it out of all preportion, while you ignore the most important factors.

Faith can be a wonderful thing, and I'm glad that you both have it, but when you let your faith blind you to the truth that both science and history have taught us, you become dangerous.

I bet you're the sort of person, that if you was unlucky enough to catch cancer, you'd refuse the modern technology and drugs that could well save your life, instead choosing to pray to be cured... out of you, and the guys who accepted the treatment, I wonder who would survive?

Anyway, I'm going away for the weekend, but when I get back I'll check these posts and see if there is anything constructive and intellegent posted... if there is, i'll add my own views, otherwise I'm just going to let this thread die.

you cant say that, you do not know either of them.........science is a wonderful thing, but science can also hinder faith and distance ppl from god,as iv said before people whjo have learnt science and such have always hadto find the proof,do experiments........but if they dont give god a chance they will never find this prrof.....like science i guerss the proof would be in the experience,i believe it takes faith to believe in evolution,it also takews as much faith to believe in god,the proof is around us in his people, the sick are being healied, the blind can see,the disabled walk, mlives set free from depression.....god does not simply appea in somebodies life,he does not jump on you and force you to exept him,he waites for a ready heart, god wil only be reveiled to you when you have an open heart to him,it took me alot of faith to find god for myself, adn for along time i doubted his existence, but as i got to know him and experience him i have no dobt in my mind that he is there, because of all that he has done for me.

as for the science thing........if somebody has cancer there is a lot the doctors can do,medical help is not a sin or a curse, god has blessed us with this technology, god wants us to have faith, but he also wants us to have common sence.medicine helps, but prayer brings power and peace

Many scientists are religious, and that is very good. I find that they are not incompatible at all. The physical laws of the universe are consistent, and if there is a God, He created us within those laws. I have seen many things that break those rules. This is what I find to be magical, it is miraculous.

Arlia is right, there is power in prayer. Miracles do happen. I am convinced for myself, though I do not mean to imply that anyone else need believe me.

"Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one."
“My sense of God is my sense of wonder at the universe.”
“There are two way to live your life, as though nothing is a miracle, or as though everything is a miracle.” Albert Einstein (1879-1955)

Brocktoon and I are being quite rational. In fact, putting faith in humanity is quite irrational. Take a look at the world and it should be pretty obvious. For example, you could check out gang wars that go on and the lives that are at stake daily. Or look to other countries where conditions are horrible. That is humanity. However, the question posed has nothing to do with science nor history. The question that was asked was based on how God feels about homosexuality. Not how science views it or same sex relations in history. Asking a question in relation to God on a Christian forum, you are going to get answers based on religion. Asking those of us here not to use the word of the Lord for debate is the same as asking someone about their thoughts on pork in the Vegetarian forum.

I have been on a certain medication for many, many years that seemed to help relieve the situation at first. However, down the line, as my immune system grew use to, it failed to work. Other forms of treatment failed to produce any results. I kept it in constant prayer and was completely healed. Mind you that in the past, I never bothered to pray for it because I was so addicted to taking medication for mere relief.

I know a woman who's body had been ravaged with cancer. Her doctors gave her a maximum of six months to live and said there was nothing more they could do. She prayed, fasted, and held steadfast to her faith. The cancer is gone. Even some specialists in the medical field itself have witnessed things they cannot explain and refer to them blatantly as miracles. In fact, there was a doctor who did a study on patients and prayer. His results proved quite interesting. Those who lived longer and did not need use of medication or breathing assistance were among the ones who were prayed for. (It can be found in Southern Medical Journal on a back issue from 1986)

If I am involved in an accident and am lying in the middle of the street in a pool of blood, I am not going to refuse medical assistance. However, I will be praying throughout the entire ambulance ride. Medicine can only do so much. That has been proven. Half of the women in my family are involved in the medical field. If I came into any of their hospitals injured, you better believe they will be praying alongside my bed. I find that comment amusing though. I love my Psychology major, and I am a devout Apostolic. A woman from my church is going to medical school to become an M.D. How is that for rationality?

If you are looking for others to agree with you on philosophy, you may wish to check out the atheist section of this forum.

As far as finding a Psychological explanation for homosexuality, you won't. I have read over many theories in my studies and case in point, they are only theories. Speculation, hypothesis, and assumptions. As interesting as they may be, they are only ideas.

Please do not try and insult other's intelligence based simply on the fact that they do not see eye to eye with you on the ways of the world.

On an end note, did you know that after all Aleister Crowley had achieved in life, on his death bed he was grieved? After all of his recognitions and awards, the appraisals of his intelligence, he died miserable. So much for his, "self realization."

In post 60 I asked a simple question that none of the gay bashers felt like answering.
Just in case you forgot about it, here it is again. What about the other abominations that are right alongside the homophobic commandment? Do you feel as strongly against eating Lobster as you do about promoting discrimination and the suppression of gay rights?

Leviticus also says that eating shellfish is abominable, and that it is good to make blood sacrifices on an altar, and that it is okay to sell your daughter into slavery as long as you ask a fair price. I wonder what your thoughts are on the other guidelines that are right alongside the one you are referring to?

Great question, and one that has been asked before. Although I don't think it has ever been answered. Seems like many christians are so quick to throw around judgement they don't even see their own hypocracy - I guess unless they are okay with parents selling their children into slavery...

Pigs, rabbits, camels, ferrets, snails, mice, and birds of prey are also not on the menu. And if you know any wizards, and don't kill them, God will see that as an abomination also. And you can't touch anything a woman who is menstruating has touched or you will be unclean the rest of the day. I cannot find the verse about the daughter that I quoted above, so if anyone else does, please let me know.

Science is not the search for happiness... it's the search for truth... and the truth is that the world is a bleak and scary place.. the universe is run by chaos and random chances.. nothing more, nothing less, and due to this, there is close to no predicability.

I'm not happy about the truth, but i am happy that I now know the truth (and all the bisexual sex I have helps cheer me up too ;))

PS, this IS my last post until sunday, until then i'm going to be having lots of bisexual sex (honest, i am).

yes the world is a terribel place, because people have become corrupt, people are constantly searching for the truth, the truth is jesus, his message of love and forgiveness, the truth is that even in the midst of this chaoes there is a god that loves us,there is a god that has a plan and a purpose for our lives.

i dont believe in chance,i believe some things are coninseidence, but wen 3 differnt people who you dont know, and they dont know each other prophecies something over your life that will happen, and you had a dream about it also, something tells me that is more than jsut coincedence, but god

Science does not and will not hold all truths. It is a never ending quest to solve mysteries. Just comes down to the fact that humanity does not have all the answers. Sorry, that is just the way it is.

No predictability? Scientists work to try and predict many things, like for instance, they are trying to predict when and where the next major Tsunami will take place. However, tragedies continue to happen because Scientists do not hold all of the answers.

i think we a ll get that now, but i think is WHY does the church/right-wing government continue to deny these people rights that should be allowed to them as HUMAN BEINGS? [ i am not saying this is anyone here, i assume you are all tollerant people...you may not understand it, but you can accept it]
