hummers also have remarkably shitty leg room for the driver....... I felt the need to stop by the gm dealer one day and look at one to make the salesman nervous... it was fun... and horribly uncomfortable..... they're built for 5'2" soccer moms....
really, Quest_techie?? that IS surprising...jeez. I'm 6'3" barefoot...that would not work for me! I thought those things were supposed to be huge. Weird. Well, add that to the list of how crappy they are!! The only time I was in one was in a HUMMER was riding in the back of a HUMMER LIMO (yeah they have hummer limousines in case you didn't know) when one of my best friends got married.
I'm 5'4" and when I drive them for work I keep the seat nearly all the way back, and not only am I short but I have incredibly short legs, so it is true. The problem is to save room for the back seat passengers the tracks on the front seats are incredibly short. They may look big but it comes down to preserving every inch of space inside.
People with money who have nothing better to buy buy them, or people who want to look rich and dont mind debt buy them..... a picture of one outside a trailer home would be golden... ha ha.... Sorry if this offends anyone I'm pro trailer home too... ha ha...
seriously go to a gm dealership the center console intrudes into the drivers footspace so you have almost no horizontal footspace (and consider this is being said by someone who drives a saturn sedan) and it's super compressed so you have no footroom for height it was just the most ironically disgusting thing ever
hahaha i'm glad you all loathe them too....now send me pictures! *beg* haha, don't worry, it's all good.
the hummers they built for the public are nothing like they built for the military ..they are just ego boosters .even a WW2 jeep goes through rougher terrain than one of them and can get by some narrower spots than they can ........but then again i suppose no worse than the people buying $50,000 half tons with no intention of ever using it to haul stuff
The H2 gets about 9-10 mpg. I don't consider the vehicle itself any more unsafe than any other similar sized vehicle, including the millions of full sized pick-ups out there. The driver of the H2 is what would make them unsafe. They are used to zipping around in their 3,000 pound Mercedes... cutting across multiple lanes of trafffic with complete disregard to the safety of those around them. Then they trade in the old Mercedes for a "cool" H2 and continue with the same crappy driving habits, not realizing how dangerous it is to drive recklessly in a 6,400 pound vehicle. Why don't you attack all full size SUV's since they all get about the same MPG and are equally destructive killing machines? .
i hate hummers...I have 2 in my little cul de sac of 6 houses where i live...its pretty gross...they dont even look that good... steve
Not only are Hummers voracious consumers of gasoline. So are all of those giant "super duty" pick-ups (Chevy / GMC 3500, Ford F-350, Dodge 3500, especially the "duallys"). I work at a car wash, and I notice on these trucks' fuel computers that many of these super duty pick-ups actually have such bad fuel economy (even with a diesel engine) that they make a Hummer 2 look fuel efficient.
Shut up. Im sick of all this OMG gas bullshit. Stop bitching. If you had the money you too would be buying expensive gas guzzling vehicles. A lot of people own these vehicles for work where small vehicles are not accessible. Its kind of like having a big house, sure it isnt needed, but if you can have it, why the fuck not? People dont buy hummers to be cool, they like them. Thats like saying everyone gets tattooed, or smokes weed to be cool. God damn shut the fuck up. You all are so misguided in all of your opinions. Im pretty sure the stock hummer doesnt even have solid axels, so yes it is a shitty off road vehicle. But you can get them equipped to be pretty beafy. Although, it is much cheaper to get a jeep and make it beefy. Its all about preference, so shove it. Who cares if theyre pimping these things out with chrome, not everyone who owns a jeep offroads either. A lot of people own pick ups and dont haul things around in its life time, does that make it stupid for that consumer to buy a truck? Not if they like it.
I think your missing the point mushy. huge vehicles like a HUmmer arent necessary for most people to own. its a status symbol which only reinforces people's need to keep up with the joneses and keeps our sick capitalistic government going. plus they ARE gas guzzlers which pollute the environment and i dont care if i had all the money in the world you wouldnt catch me driving one!!!!!!!!
fast, fun and evrironmetaly friendly.. WHY HAS THIS BEEN SO BADLY IGNORED? i like cars, i LOVE my car, but i also love my bike, between the two i have genuine, clean fun transport. i'd fight tooth and nail against being forced into a smart car or some other death drap snooze machine, i have the right and freedome to enjoy my car and motorcycle without harasment, but a duty to do it responsibly.
With all due respect, this is my opinion on this particular link and this post: 1) Those of us who know how to do things other than look at pictures, will likely read. It's a little think that I learned how to do back in kindergarden. I'm one of those dorky people, I suppose, who actually do read articles, lengthy or otherwise. If you're going to rely solely on pictures to make or break your point, doing this 'thumbs up/thumbs down' thing - in my opinion - looks oversimplified and a little demeaning. 2) People of all sorts are influenced by what other people think, not just Hummer buyers. And like a few posts here read, instead of cheesily saying what's wrong with a Hummer or any other product, encourage alternatives rather than bash a certain product. Just me, though.
Why should you care so much? Why should any of us care about anything, anymore, it seems. We'll still take our morning piss tomorrow and drink our martinis dry.
