introverted? now how do you come to that conclusion? because our gouverment doesnt bomb other countries? check your facts again... there are many many austrian activities all around the globe, both political and economical. i think you will be suprised to say the least.

an me? please, dont think your situation applys to others... i have sure as hell been around a lot more than you, one of my comrades at university is from san francisco, i have relatives and friends in the US... and the good thing is they are educated and intelligent people, who have a lot more to say of importance than you ever will be able to.

no insult mate, but get yourself into perspective. thesis, antithesis, synthesis, you know?

If this is in fact true about you, then that's fine.... but how could you make those assumptions about me in good faith, while you're complaining about me making them back at you?

because at 19, there is no way you really do know what you are talking about. you may just come out from school and have never been to europe, let alone austria. your whole knowlege about my country is most likely from the internet and from the media of the US - which really doesnt tell you much to begin with. on top of that, if you follow the pupils of the US i know, you have been educated in the believe of the US being the "best" on the world - the US schools i know (well, more exactly by what pupils of that school told me) dont really bother much with objective and /or relative world fiews. my good faith is that most US americans up to a certain age are part of a very US-centric educational system... and thats why i assume some things.

You are correct, I never did.

Of course America has PLENTY of problems, I don't even like my country. But we aren't talking about America, we are talking about China, with all sorts of problems, many people can't even see unless they come here and stay for a good long time!

I have been living in China for 14 months and see her problems every day. I think Japan might even be a better place to be, with better quality of life/cleaner cities/environment, economy and more freedom.

what really makes me wonder in the first place is the name of the thread itself:

i mean, that implies that there are actually people out there that believe in a country "leading" the world... which just isnt the case. as powerful as the US, Russia or China are or have been, there is no such things as a "leader" of the world. alone the assumption of something like that offers some interesting insights in the world fiew of people.

Well, China leads my world right now...I'm in love with my new 36" Chau gong and rack of Chinese Lion cymbals! They are made by craftsmen in Wuhan, where the best (IMHO) Cymbals and gongs have been made for thousands of years. The working methods have changed little.

Come live here man, I live here. Come see if it is an amazing paradise like you think. Put your mouth where your money is, come to the rural areas, the poor provinces.

Also, one who loves China so much CAN NOT be so ignorant of Chinese war with India, Vietnam, Korea and Japan and very heavy tension with Russia. Not to mention the Chinese civil war.

as happy as i am that the united $tate$ is falling from "world leadership"

i am sorta hoping that if any nation or nations has to "take over" that it would be somewhat more progressive

    say, the european union

china is totalitarian, somewhat racist, and generally careless towards the environment

    and has always been so

fortunately they have also traditionally been uninterested in the world outside their borders

btw, if you think china in africa is a good thing, think again

they are using africans nearly as poorly as europeans have always done

china is good at putting a friendly face on an ugly policy

all the good jobs in their african ventures are filled by chinese, and whenever whatever they're digging out of the ground is gone, they will leave the africans with nothing

if you want to know how friendly the chinese are to non-chinese, just ask a uighur or a tibetan, surely you've heard of them?

[note that my posts on this subject are gross generalizations, but so is this entire damn thread]

There was an unfortunate situation in New Zealand last week in which a NZ lawmaker was protesting during the Chinese VP's visit to the NZ Parliament grounds. The NZ lawmaker was waving a Tibet flag and protesting so the security for the Chinese VP took the flag, stomped on it, and pushed the NZ lawmaker. Then the NZ Prime Minister apologized to China for the incident!

It seems that China is really starting to assert itself...
but this is a bit worrisome....

    Is it really, now?

I don't see how you can hate your own people so much without also having a great deal of self hatred. I hope you get over this.

STRONGLY dislike in general, not hate. I have met some good americans long long ago... even some good anglos.

I owe those few good anglos my gratitude. I was watching Public Television last week sometime and a show about a man named William Kunstler came on. Good on him for his brave work.

But I'm still glad that the Great Nation of China will lead our world very soon. We can debate it all day long but it is coming like it or not. It is only fair that a GOOD people who have suffered for so long take their Supreme place in the world. And with their rise, other long forgotten people will begin to speak up with pride and make their voices heard!! This confident Great Nation of China is truly an inspiration to me...but be nice to my future countrymen in NZ!

Someone sounds, sorry, but, sorta, brainwashed. China ( or any other counrty) taking over the world CANNOT be a good thing. If humans would just stop trying to dominate eachother, we'd be fine. But, that's never gonna happen. So, We're fucked.
