it was supposed to be a diary written by a 14 or 15 year old girl. The person who put it together was Beatrice Sparks. She's older but not like elderly. she has edited a few books like that. I know one is Annie's Baby about a girl who ends up pregnant and another is It Happened to Nancy. that was about a girl who ended up with AIDS. They are both very good. Go Ask Alice seems the least realistic but you never know. If oyu liked Go Ask Alice I would highly recommend the other 2 books.
not annoyed, just... jaded or sumfin, i dunno... other diaries & drug stories & such, hmmmm... well, does it hafta be told from a kid's p.o.v. ? & does it hafta end in disaster and/or death? & does it hafta be all made-up?
no not at all. I have a general interest in diaries especially when it comes to drug use, and hardships. Teenage diaries have a certain dramatic quality to them but I would very much enjoy an adult's point of view because they have a a more realistic outlook on life. If you could give me some suggestions I would appreciate it very much. it does not have to end in disaster and it could be fiction or non it does not matter. I just need some good reading material!!
I read it a long time ago, and enjoyed the story. Although I see it as a propaganda book of sorts, a scare tactic, there is still a good amount to be extracted from it. Drug use to that extent can certainly spiral one's life out of control, and wasn't too far fetched. The thing that bothered me was the fact that the stoners were made out to be malicous. Who the hell forces drugs on anyone? Most people won't even OFFER them.

Yes I've read Go Ask Alice and don't go ask her what it's like to be a drug addict.... Read Jim Carroll's The Basketball Diaries, and see the movie too. He's one of my favorite writers, my favorite collection of his is Fear of Dreaming. "They've tricked you, these boundaries the way each stares back to the next hoping the change might occur but the organ started up again as the hand tightened the grip on the knob of the door the way you only guessed it should be up until now the way a star greets you so openly, you forgot for a moment that is meant nothing afterall thought tonight it was all you had ever hoped and you were right." An excerpt from 'A Short Reminder'
I kinda like the book, I've read it twice now. I thought maybe it had been made up because it just doesn't seem like a 14-15 year old girl wrote some of the things that were written, it was still good though.
It's just one of those classic "Education of Little Tree" situations...you can't ever believe an autobiography is an autobiography.
hey ive never read that book but by any chance is it related to alice in white rabbit by jefferson airplane... or is that just like alice in wonderland?
I read the book when I was in middle school, and I remember really really liking it. I would like to read it again. Anyone know any really good books to read?
Has anyone of you hip guys and chicks read that ungroovie book. It is full of lies: LSD begins to trip after 30 mins, and a lot of other stupid things far from reality. One of my friends said, that go ask alice was written by the DEA.
why don't people attempt to search? Weve hashed and rehashed this piece of propaganda! http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42280&highlight=go+ask+alice http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27805&highlight=go+ask+alice http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4346&highlight=go+ask+alice
I'm not too crazy about "Go Ask Alice" either. I read it several years ago, and didn't think it was all that great...
