Hey, so I just finished reading Go Ask Alice, and the first thing that popped into my head after I read the epilogue was "What the hell?" The last pages of the book were all about her having new drug-free friends, and having a brand new life without drugs. Then, 3 weeks later, she dies of a drug overdose. What happened? Did she finally break and get into drugs again, did the old grass gang poison her or what? I know that often in the story she promised to go clean, and then got sucked into drugs again. Did the same thing happen here? Furthermore, I know most of the book is fictionalized... is it possible that the end was also fake?
The whole book is fake. They want you to think once your on drugs you'll always get hooked. Basically she had a relapses and it killed her this time.
the ending was the one thing that led me to believe it was just written up by a psychologist to scare you from doing drugs. reminds me of the movie reefer madness. the ending was a disappointment though, I thought it was pretty weak. the rest of the book can be pretty intense and detailed.
Yeah, because the ending was so weak and made no sense, that's the first thing that led me to believe that it was fake.
the ending would havee been much better if it were more realistic.... unfortunately it is not so just make do...
Dear raz, OK. The book is on my steadily growing books2read list, but I haven't looked for a copy yet. The book seems to polarize its readers. So it's time for a visitation at my (book)dealer I guess . Regards Gyro
i really like this book. and i thought the ending was good because i wasn't expecting that too happen. i actually would have been pissed if they had said she stayed clean and lived happily ever after...
I want this book so damn bad... I didn't read your thread or any of the replies. I have a background about the book but I can't wait to read the whole thing
