I went to look for a recent email from K-mart because a mail order item had not arrived. I typed in K-mart into the search emails box only to have the browser take me to Bing. I vowed some years ago never to use Bing ever again after my notebook loaded malicious software that meant I had to reset to factory settings. I was only able to find the email using an old laptop running Ububtu 16.04. It would appear to be the work of Microsoft. If they they think this is their way of promotion the complete opposite is true. I was think of running Ubuntu on my notebooks,
Some of the benefits of Linux are the ability to use multiple browsers, multiple boot disks with same OS or different OS, clone entire disks in 3 to 4 minutes, add and delete programs from multiple sources, etc. I've been using Linux Mint for about 8 years and have found many additional application SW - all free. No Microsoft involvement at all. It took a few months to learn but I would not give it up.
I would like to give Windows the boot altogether, but I use Celtx and don't know how to install on Linux.
On this page, near the bottom is a list of Linux distributions that can run Celtx. Install Celtx on Linux | Snap Store Ubuntu is listed along with some other versions of Linux. A lot of software intended to run on Ubuntu will also run on Linux Mint. (Mint was created using a mix of Ubuntu and Debian).
That's weird. The gmail page "search mail" textbox sent you to Bing? That's certainly not google's agenda. Microsoft sure, but they have more direct ways of nagging and influencing their software on you. Sounds like some dirty little malware or adware extensions are hijacking your browser to me.
