This is one of the most moronic threads I have ever read. And I only read the OP's first post, none of the replies.

    OP: lay off the xTc.

No the OP is right, globalization is inevitable in the information, jet travel age where everything is becoming further and further connected, and it's asinine for anyone to think we can hide behind our country's borders and pretend we're oblivious to economic and cultural trends from around the world.

Your country does not own me. I have 4 passports.

The idea that peace and love come from globalization is asinine.

We shall see how much peace and love you get when globalization is firmly entrenched.

    This is what globalization brings.

Globalization does not operate under a plan of achieving harmony.

There's plenty of technology to create clean drinking water and local people to maintain it. But companies have the fabulous idea to "buy" local means of production of water, sell it for more than people can pay for, then abandon it in disrepair. Or they have the awesome idea to move production plants out of the country to save on labor costs, they pile on profits by not translating the savings to the consumer, and then close plants when profits slip and devastate the working class economy that they built.

It would be awesome if globalization meant people were all trading their very useful things. But in this modus Rich people just exploit poor people in order to rip off people with spending money.

the thread starter has such a romanticized version of globalization in his head. if it were happening the way he wished that would be fantastic. but its not. they are building one world government through globalization which only benefits the rich

Interdependence? This is a slyly masked angel of death. Interdependence is not going to secure peace my friend, if anything, resentment and the sleeping seeds of war. What will happen is the conscious revolution in elevated awareness.. we need each other to SEE each other and choose to live on this planet we call earth, home, in harmony.

If globalization has to happen? I don't know

What I know is that THIS KIND of globalization doesn't correct inequalities, help poor workers, etc.

If there were an other type of globalization that includes all the countries "to achieve a brighter future for everyone" I would say yes, but with this one absolutely no.

Guys guess what, globalization already happened, world didn't implode, in fact mos would argue we're far better off, informed, connected and with more access to goods than could even be imagined 20 years ago.

Did you know the Earth is actually not round, it protrudes a little at the equator.

Also it's funny seeing a bunch of rich westerners complain about globalization on the internet in their cozy bedrooms, who don't we ask the hundreds of millions of people not living in poverty anymore due to the inter connected global economy.

Oh wait that's right, Indonesia needs to have the same exact working conditions and wages as the United States otherwise it's evil globalization that's exploiting workers/taking American jobs

That's a severely skewed statement. You are creating your own argument (Indonesia needs the same working conditions and wages as U.S.) and then giving a weak and pointless refutation (sarcasm regarding "evil globalization and exploitation").

If cheap labor, intentionally exploited by multinational corporations, in order to drive down production costs while raising retail prices is NOT a problem, I'd really like to hear a coherent argument to that effect.

globalisation has to happen, because the human has developped transportation system, but not to the benefit of the multinational companies..globalisation is not the problem, but capitalism, and how a few companies are using globalisation to control the world..one government for all and social security for all on the planet is the purpose to achieve .. maybe the united nations is a little start towards these things..
