I don't tend to believe videos or photos as they're not that hard to doctor convincingly, but I definitely believe in ghosts/energy/whatever the hell it may be. I have had way too many things happen to me to not believe, some along the lines of stuff already mentioned (losing something, finding it in the exact same spot you just looked) and others a bit tripper (losing an earring at work that belonged to a dead family member and finding it on the kitchen counter after getting home that same day) and others just downright fucked up (furniture completely rearranged in the utility room, blood and weird paw prints all over the bathroom in the middle of the night, waking up with weird scratches). All of these things (except the earring) happened at my parents house, which has its own fucked up history. I'm not sure what, but something is definitely real.

ghosts are cool. demon is a word humans invented for entirely human reasons. really pretty much everything is cool other then what humans make up to tell each other. by cool i don't mean purrfect, or never naughty, but rather just not inherently harmful by nature either. as for stuff on youtube that makes a big deal about trying to be scary, yah that's all just fanatical propaganda of one kind or another, that now a day's, anyone who can learn how to use cg can make up. i mean if it was real, it wouldn't be trying to make a big deal about trying to be scary. i mean the nature of the universe is diverse, but its not that personal either.
My fiance is into all the tarot paranormal stuff. She has shown me some of it is very real. I am a scientific person but there is something beyond science in some of these cases. There is something in my house. I'm not sure if it was always there or if she attracts these things. She tells me that ghosts like people who listen to them and acknowledge them and she sure does that. It's not evil but I know I am not alone. Things will get moved and seriously if I have lost something I have said out loud "you should help me find it" and sure enough it shows up in a place I looked already in a few hours.
I can tell the difference between cgi and the real thing. Some of the videos on YouTube are very real.
That was a fascinating article. An in-depth book on stage magic's influence on trick photography could potentially be an interesting read.
Meh, I'm not fully convinced ghosts are real. Although I have had a few paranormal experiences in my life. Especially back when I did security. At a construction site I was patrolling, I had radios turn on, and when I approached the radio, it would turn off on its own. I've felt the presence of other people when nobody was around. Then I've heard murmuring voices in the hallways. One of my coworkers had all the doors in that same hallway slam in unison. To this day, I've never actually seen a spirit or an apparition.
While UFO sightings are escalating with the advent of cameras on every phone, ghost sightings are not. There's actually a good reason for this. Electronic cameras do not pick them up the way film does. The only way they could would be if the image sensor had a scintillation filter in front of it. Film doesn't require such an unlikely configuration and readily detects light as well as various wavelengths of X-Rays and radiation. What's also weird is that so many of the UFO pics from phone cameras, are grainy!
I don't know where to find my favorite ghost video...it's somewhere on youtube. Anyway, this guy was sleeping, and was awoken by the light turning on in his kitchen. He starts recording, and cabinet doors start swinging and slamming shut. It's kind of hard to explain why you can tell it's genuine...it's just the guy, I guess. Totally not a fake a ghost video type. He tries to be brave, but in the end he's just like, "Ok, I'm going outside." It was his dead grandmother's old house. There is something even cooler in the video, but I don't know how to explain it.
I have seen many many things in this house as I was growing up. Then when I moved back and brought my son (he was 7 yrs old), he began acting differently and wound up telling me he heard things and saw them too. I learned how to make the ghosties here settle down and quit annoying us. Growing up seeing chairs rock, hearing footsteps and knowing either Mama or my brother had come in the room when I was playing the piano BUT NOBODY (physical) WAS THERE, as well as seeing things move made me a believer years and years ago. I still see and hear things, and I definitely believe (know) ghosts exist.
A real scientist must be open to the possibility that in the future an essence may be detected emitting from the recently deceased, trapped inside containers and even temporally stored before finally being returned to the corpse. I often wonder about what becomes of the subject in the future.
