^Really? I still think the original Ghostbusters is an all time classic that holds up well to this day. To each their own I guess. Many people were unhappy that Bill Murray refused to make a 3rd Ghostbusters movie. I suppose that probably is for the better, since by the time the 3rd sequel come out for many popular movies that, all the jokes and plotlines are recycled over and over again, making them the worst of the trilogy.
Yeah I recently caught a part of it on tv and thought good lord what a lame outdated humor and terribly 80's B movie elements. I kinda thought the same when watching Back to the future this year but for me that one remains an all time classic (besides I appreciate the now really dated special effects). That Biff dude though, lol Hard to take serious.
In all honesty, I'm just not a big 80's dude. The original Ghostbusters was a lot of fun, but it didn't blow me away or stick with me the way it has for people of that generation. Remakes are just a fact of life. They'll stop making them when people stop paying for them. It doesn't alter the original in any way to have a new film, it just kinda sucks that they don't have the balls to write a new story set in the same universe. Essentially they use the original as a kind of crutch, hoping that nostalgia and novelty will carry them through a lack of ideas. Ghostbusters (2016) was a pretty standard average action comedy blown way out of proportion by entitled fans and the internet controversy machine. Its kinda long (And cheesy), but I found this to be a very accurate and balanced review of the film and commentary on the "controversy" surrounding the casting/remakes in general. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORS3CqPTgDg
