Sorry, I meant my main. Yeah, actually, I wound up playing with someone who happened to have the same model last summer, and his was mail order - online purchase, actually - and he told me again and again mine was the quality instrument of the two. Makes sense, too, with how hit or miss box stores usually are

Electra made some awesome guitars, I've got an Electra "75 "lawsuit strat" which is very early for that company and it's very good but bridge placement is slightly off. They were still learning. The early 80's ones were better though... They tend to not be cheap though as there are a lot of guys that know this and the prices go up... They have become collectable as have many of the early MIJ (made in Japan) guitars. I've seen '79-80 Electra and Tokai LesPaul copies sell for what a new Gibson sells for.

Stick with an Epi or Squire mid to high end and you will do alright. It would be good to have someone you know that knows guitars check it out for you before you buy if that's possible.

Harley Benton is a house brand for a popular line of music instruments and equipment produced by original equipment manufacturers for Musikhaus Thomann, a large multinational mail-order retailer based in Bavaria, Germany.

Harley Benton guitars are manufactured in China by the Saein Musical Instrument Co., Ltd., a South Korean OEM vendor who, in 1991, successfully launched an independent factory in Gaomi, China. Saein also manufactures its own brand of guitars, Shine, and also manufacturers guitars for Ibanez, Epiphone, and Peavey. (Wiki)

Consistency of manufacture aside, ( I would never buy one of these without playing it first, I would never buy a mail order guitar, period.)
The biggest drawback with all these lower end guitars (Squires and Epis included) is the cheap hardware. ( strap buttons, bridge/ tail-piece, tuners, pickups, electronics) By the time you spend the money to upgrade the hardware to something decent, you might as well have just saved up and bought a better guitar in the first place.
