Tonight im at work and I'm going to go home and spend time with my wife when I'm finished. :)

Not gonna pollute my mind with anything more or anything less, especially some wank news that in all honesty wasn't going to change anything in my life anyway.

I just don't see how it's beneficial. Maybe to somebody but definitely not me. Definitely not you either. Ignorance perhaps. Arrogance even. I don't care.

News is pretty much intended to draw an audience with exaggeration and fabrication. Two things that are guaranteed to draw attention.

You're smart for not paying much attention to it.

It all comes to pass anyway

But at that point it's not news... It's history.

History? History is full of lies. May as well be the media, in fact, it pretty much is indoctrinated media for school classes just to get the new generation on their manipulated paths of thinking.

Best thing my parents ever did, take me out of early schooling because they didn't want me indoctrinated with rubbish. :) I had to do highschool though just to get out of their hair. But by that stage I knew what I wanted to study and didn't pay attention to much else.

Moral of the story is, it's all bullshit. Just worry about yourself and your loved ones.

There are people who read the newspaper and start tearing their hair out. Newspapers make an art-form out of pressing emotional buttons. I agree with Sir Humphrey Appleby that newspapers pander to readers' prejudices. Being a journalist like a scientist or police detective can be both an Honorable or dishonourable occupation.
Investigative journalism is what real journalism is all about. It is also the most expensive to produce.

I think maybe wrong choice of words. Maybe you mean some people become delusional and look for confirmation evidence?

  7. I'm more concerned with what the truth is that we're all allegedly avoiding. To be satisfied with reality as it presents itself is not for me. There is an order unseen. There is serendipity.

Confirmation bias can definitely cause delusion. Sad thing is...it's built in. :|

Technically nobody around here has been brainwashed unless they have been completely isolated and controlled.

To brainwash someone you have to control their basic human needs so that they become completely dependent on you.
Then their identity has to be completed destroyed, or "washed".
The thought process has to be interrupted so that independent critical thought is no longer possible.
Then you instill a new identity which would include blind obedience.

If you believe you've been brainwashed, you haven't.

  11. We brainwash each other with the collective idea that what is seen is the truth.

But...what if "they" have brainwashed you...into believing that you'd been brainwashed! Huh? What about that? :smirk:

No we haven’t been brainwashed per say. It’s more like we are programmed to be slaves of consumption. This is what drives the almighty economy. Those over 40 have had less programming than most because it was not happening in early education as it has been for a few decades. But for the younger ones it starts the minute the educational system gets you in the door. Learn more, work harder, push harder, achieve more, get into a better college, make more money. Buy things, lots of them. Things make you happy. More things = more happiness!

    LIES!
