Sure have. I read it when I was seventeen years old, during my senior year, in my AP Government & Economics class in high school. I had an awesome teacher. He totally looked like Jerry Garcia and he taught us how to make a bong in class before. I thought that was just too fucking cool. Hands down - my favourite teacher. Ever. Well, yeah. . . he's definitely up there.
1984 is an amazing book. Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury are a couple other examples of some excellent novels. Slaughterhouse Five especially just blows my mind. I need to go back and reread it. It's been almost 7 years since I read it, I think.
It wasn't the best dystopian book but it is up there. It had a weird feeling throughout the book. The end was so weird, messed up, and depressing. My favorite dystopian book is Fahrenheit 451 and then Anthem.
