George Michael died of natural causes with a weakened heart and a damaged liver, a coroner has said. ... A coroner today announced he died from a disease of the heart muscle and fatty liver disease and an inquest into his death will therefore not be held
I am relieved to read that is what has been determined to be cause of death. So many rumours about why almost to the point of hoping it was drug related. Man had his demons but speculation was wrong. I am sure that will help his loved ones deal with this. Voice from heaven, I will miss that.
Not really my kind of music, but I do think George was very talented in his way. My daughter and her partner are big fans, and I know they'll be glad that his death wasn't from drugs. Also means the Daily Mail will have one less tragedy to try to pin on cannabis.
Never heard that the drugs would have been involved in his death. All the web sites I've gone through mentioned it was a heart disease.
Such a tragic event and he was a genuine superstar who was also very generous with his money to worthy causes and never sought any publicity for this. I saw him in concert and he was electric - his voice was so pure and perfect and he gave a great show. I'm glad that he died of natural causes, although just wish he could have walked this earth for far longer.....
I agree with ever bit you said ..Apart from going to see him live! Which isn't going to happen now! A true legend of our times!
Sorry but fatty liver implies overweight... I asked if George Michael was overweight, not the person who posted this info as you have done. I don't care about celebrities dying TBH. I have enough death around me from people I know personally .. I don't need to grandstand and pretend I am weeping for a stranger in order to elevate my standing online and prove I am compassionate. I feel for those left behind who knew and loved him. Dying is the easy part... going on without is the hard part. Nor do I need to insult others and imply that they are out of touch simply because they are not following the life of celebrities and tabloid magazines. Also deaths are oftem more about our own mortalitythan the one who died in cases like this.
George does look overweight a bit and is not the lean trim figure of his youth. Drug abuse along with possible alcoholism, overeating and emotional stress of his personal issues may have contributed to a weakened heart and the liver disease, imho. Plus the recent history of ailments like pneumonia, head injury may have aggravated his general ill-health. He is also 53 and not quite young anymore but may have pushed himself to meet the demands and rigors of professional singing and touring which may have increased the stress on his heart and body further.
