I don't even like King Diamond. Actually I do very much enjoy Cradle's second full length, Dusk and her embrace. But their first, and Midian and all later efforts can't arouse my enthusiasm for even a second. I saw Six Feet Under live once and it rocked, then I listened to it at home and it was boring as fuck. The past few days I've mostly listened to Anaal Nathrakh (progressive nekro black metal), Arcana (medieval folk), Savatage (hardrock / trad. heavy metal), The Amazing Stroopwafels (classic rock), Hakkuhbar (happy hardcore), Toy Box (kiddie eurodance), Madonna, Gorgoroth (true norwegian black metal), and Brutus (brutal death metal of the 'who's that Mel Ody person you mentioned?' kind).
Yeah, Dusk and her embrace is the only album that I can appreciate of Cradle of Filth. Run away though if they're gonna perform in your area.
Hahaha, yeah. I've heard they're dreadful on stage. Didn't see any reasons to watch any band in which Dani shows his ugly self anyway.
Ah well, heavy metal and power metal are in there and that what's Blind guardian a mix of. And in the early days a bit of thrash may be.
Dude, how can you say that Children of Bodom suck, but then say that Iced Earth is very good? o_0 Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of both bands, but when it comes to judging music, I like to looks at things from a technical standpoint... I don't just negatively judge bands simply because I don't like their music. Children of Bodom is instrumentally a very good band, with relatively very advanced musicicians. Iced Earth is very good too, but I honestly think that CoB beats Iced Earth into the ground when it comes to skill level. I'm not saying that you have to like everyone's music, but if you're going to make a judgement on a band, do it the right way. As for me, I'll listen to pretty much anytype if I like it, and yes that means Nu-Metal and Hair Metal too.(Though I really don't like most of it) My favorites are Power Metal, and Folk/Viking Metal. I kind of consider folk and Viking Metal to be pretty much the same thing. I don't like most Death Metal and Grindcore though, with the exception of Napalm Death and Morbid Angel. I REALLY don't like Death, and am plan sick and tired of hearing all these people who can barely play an instrument say "oMg, Chuck Schuldiner is so gReaT1!!1" I really don't see him as an advanced musician, same old mediocre riffs similar to the likes Cannibal Corpse and stuff. It's also annoying when those same types talk about Death Metal/Grindcore being all "Technical"... I'm just gonna say, those Death/Grindcore lyrics usually never communicate a message, it's mostly all mindless dribble about "chopping up corpses." The percussion/drums SOUND technical to the untrained ear, but really only takes endurance and not much technical skill at all to play those double-pedal beats, blast beats and stuff. Alot of the guitar riffs are actually musically incorrect as well, believe it or not. Furthermore, they're just a bunch of downtuned, sloppy power chords, a couple diminished ones to sound "brutal".. but that's really it. Also the "guitar solo's" are usually nothing but a bunch of special/digital effects, no real solid skill is put into them. Nothing personal to those of you who are big Death Metal and Grindcore fans, but I just find most of these bands to be very mediocre, musically speaking.
I don't like Children of Bodom neither, but I do like Iced Earth. Skill is fine but when a bands' style doesn't appeal to me I don't like it. Children of Bodoms' music doesn't sound interesting to me.
Those pictures are fucked! You look like an elephant, it's trippy. Also it looks like your nose decided to give you a beatin'.
Hardcore or "Grindcore" Emocore/Screamo <-- not punk or metal but there is nowhere to put this But THraSh owns all of the above
That's cool, Helloween are considered by most fans of the genre to be "The first Power Metal band ever." I don't know if that's really true, but I believe it. They're one of my favorites definitely.
Very well. A few reasons why Iced Earth appeals to me more than Children of Bodom: (1) Alexi isn't very good at black metal-ish vocals and (2) it doesn't fit the music anyway IMO, while (3) IE had very powerful and beautiful vocals when Matt sang with them. (4) CoB's happy guitar and (even worse) keyboard jingles are very annoying while (5) I love IE's riffs that often sound quite epic without becoming cheesy (like Manowar). (6) They also don't have very prominent keyboards, which is a good because for me that's mostly irritating especially if it's obvious that it's a keyboard (strings / choir modules are better, but still they shouldn't overtake the overall sound too much). (7) IE is incredibly varied where CoB sounds more the same throughout each album. (8) CoB sound too modern (also the lyrics), which doesn't appeal to me a lot within metal. (9) The songs off Something wild have no structure at all, (10) Follow the reaper and Hatebreeder have some decent songs but most songs don't really stand out. (11) IE on the other hand has consistently delivered albums virtually without any filler material. Reason enough for me to say that I prefer Iced Earth over Children of Bodom.
Well all of that stuff is simply your opinion and doesn't really hold any truth or fact... you don't prefer a certain style of vocals with a certain style of music? Sure, that's your preference, but that doesn't mean that it "sucks." You don't like keyboards dominating music? Again, that's your preference and it doesn't mean that the music "sucks." I already told you that you can like what you like, but don't say that something "sucks" without first knowing the facts. I don't even see why you would think that you have any logical reasons to argue against that. o_0 Like I said, I don't personally like much country music, but I still have lots of respect for them because most of them are good musicians.
