I think what irks me most is that you are 18 years old. I certainly did not vote for Reagan. The only people I know who did were my parents. You seem to think Boomers are people in a certain social class and you are placing them rich. Boomers are people who were born after WWII until somewhere in the 60's. Boomers range in all social classes and again the ones I know are hardly doing better than getting by. I used to say that I was a hippy who never became a yuppie. I had to get a job to survive, pay rent and put food on the table. I never had anything handed to me. I don't and never intend to own a cell phone. "(Your) generation tried...for 100 days??????" Are you kidding me? You have barely started. Do you think we were applauded for marching for Civil rights??? or protesting to end the VietNam war and bring our soldiers home? Maybe you can't afford to go to college but books are out there that you can read to at least get some of your history right The world is a messed up place. That is about the only thing we agree on.
Another thing the OP seemed to forget is the fact that its not just the younger generation in shit street. It's all of us, the whole world! There are rich and poor divides in every generation, there are some rich 'boomers' and some rich kids just as there are poor. 'we' barely tried, like specs said, we barely started, not even the tip of the iceberg. If I'd been in the states during occupy then id sure as hell still be sitting in my tent now!! We need freedom, we need to all come together, no matter what generation, background, race etc we belong to. We need to stop conditioning our children into thinking this way of life is okay, because it isnt, hell, we need to start deconditioning ourselves. No pointing fingers or yearning for what we cant have, no more moaning about things, instead of moaning we should be acting because actions speak louder than wirds. Lol, the amount of times ive wanted to chain myself to the gates of the houses of parliment and go on hunger strike. Time is of the essence.
Well, it isn't. They are also people and also need to live. Isn't that obvious? I think if older people are better on their work place than younger, then there is something wrong with young ones...
Let's over generalize the world and say we all need to come together! Hahaha, the world loves war, it's propagated by it and the only way we would get out of the economic slump that we are in would require a massive world war. The boomers are classified for living through the greatest economic boom the U.S has ever seen. I knew someone would bring up age, regardless gen X, gen Y, even the millennials hate the boomers; shit even the greatest generation hates the boomers. But jimmies gunna get rustled Protests do nothing, imagine being a king over a dynasty and seeing your people revolt by using signs and slogans. You would laugh, it's not until violence breaks out that a king would ever get nervous.
no offence intended (seriously), but it's hard to take your opinions on the economy seriously when you're fresh out of high school (i assume by your age) and it wasn't that long ago that you made a post asking someone for recommendations for introductory economics books.
Wrong again I'm afraid physconaut. The world doesnt love war!! What planet are you on? The world loves money, the reason we have war, the people don't love war. dont you think if there was even the slightest chance the world could be at peace that people wouldnt jump on it? No one wants war, they want money, I'm sure even these 'boomers' don't like the fact people die innocently and needlessly daily! People just push it to the backs of their heads 'its not directly affecting me, so why should I care?' People love money, power, resources, not war. Protests might not do anything but neither does violence, infact violence is counterproductive in getting what you want from a protest. Think about the London riots last year, what was achieved? Nothing! Instead peoples businesses, lives, towns were ruined, the government had a weak moment which is why it continued for as long as it did, otherwise they'd have just stopped it sooner. Instead of achieving anything all that happened was the youth were looked down upon and blamed, hundreds were arrested (and are still being arrested) and then everyone went back to their daily lives. If you take the government by surprise then we might get progress, how about no words? Everyone stops going to work, instead we all just do nothing, that way they'd have to change something otherwise the whole economy would get screwed! Sorry but I don't think you have the slightest clue what your talking about! Your putting the blame on other people which is just wrong, its no ones fault!
Back in the 60s and such one could have a part time job and go to college and pay for that sKooling with the money from their part time job.. Or they could work full time one summer and then throughout the rest of the year go to college and be able to pay for that with what they made over the summer. You cannot do that today. I'm an artist, I would love nothing more than to go to a nice art school. 30 grand a year just for tuition? Not including housing, food, books, art supplies, transportation.. etc. etc. A part time job in no way could pay for such. In my opinion there is no economy. We are in a debt based system and our "money" is not valued. It is not the money, it is the control that people want.. the asshats as mentioned earlier in this thread. Money is yet another string for the puppeteer. Control is what they seek and they fool themselves into thinking they have it not realizing how much they are harming themselves by harming others. It has always been about control; "Power". Our power cannot be taken by anybody though. Our power is our inherent human value. A beautiful thing.
*raises hand* That's me. 5 years for a biomed degree, was promised that "there's always a job for a scientist in research, hospitals, etc." I work in a factory painting liquid silver on tantalum capacitors. It's not that I don't feel this job is worthy of me. It serves its purpose and needs to get done, and I am happy to have a job that can pay off my student loans from the private school I attended that was supposed to be such a feather in my cap upon graduation, not to mention the car I had to borrow money to buy so I could get to this job in the first place, but honestly? I was hoping at least for something above high school diploma level... Some of the people I work with can barely express themselves, and you know how they act around me when they find out about my education? Imagine how my supervisors are giving me the evil eye every time I turn around thinking I'm gunning for their job... When all I ever really wanted was a modest position in the field I worked so hard to find a career in. These ARE radically different times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1F0Fmuf-S54"]Rise Against - Disparity By Design [with official lyrics] - YouTube "We pulled on these bootstraps so hard that they broke..."
