I'm more at home in the mosh pit of a Slayer concert with a 1000 sweaty guys that look like they just got out of prison, than in the gay night club bopping away to Kylie Minogue, not saying I dont do the nightclub thing, but usually need at least one little special pill, without it the music drives me nuts. As for the stereotypical gay, well you mostly see that on TV, The Carson Kressleys of the world, lucky if thats 1 in 20 gay guys, and even then they are usually hamming it up for the straights. I'd complain, but things are easier if the majority of the population thinks you can only be gay if you know how to match a belt with a sweater
I own the "obligatory" couple of Cher albums, but they are gathering dust in my CD tower. Truth be told, my musical inclinations are quite diverse. I enjoy everything from Jethro Tull to Bobby Orlando to Zamfir to Aqua. The only genres of music I refuse to listen to are rap/hip hop and country. I don't even consider rap music, instead calling it "audio listening" and regarding country, if I wanted to listen to right-wing blowhards, I'd have my radio tuned to Rush Limbaugh.
Slayer are pretty gay. Why would you go somewhere you'd have to get munted to enjoy? You don't know how to match a belt with a sweater?
Getting munted isn't a terrible thing, but if it's the only thing that makes an avoidable situation tolerable, it's a very expensive way to waste your time.
Some of the music is a little over the top, and sometimes the odd drug can really help enjoy the moment properly. Personally, I like to get fucked up and rave about, but that's just me.
Personally, I am a huge fan of the artists mentioned in the OP. I suppose one could state that I am the typical gay male.
That's stupid. That's the same thing big band and jazz douches said about rock music. You're just being ignorant, and I don't even listen to rap.
Damn, I wish I'd been around when Madonna posted this interesting thread. Better late than never. While I was still living in Chicago (during the 1980s), I used to go to lots of gay clubs with my friends, and dance my ass off. Madonna (the singer, not the OP) was popular, but Donna Summer was more of a late 1970s thing. I do remember Boy George (w/Culture Club) was popular for awhile - and let's not forget Janet Jackson, The Pet Shop Boys, and Whitney Houston. But in truth, my listening tastes have gone in a whole new direction: Beethoven, Mozart, The Doors, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Patti Smith, etc. And I'm totally gay. So I don't think it's accurate to assume most gay people are only into Madonna, Cher, and Donna Summer. All gay people are not alike. Anyway, that's my two cents. --QP BTW, who's Kylie?
With the exception of Cher - I totally agree with you. I admire how she has managed to stay popular for so long. --QP
not at all. i listen to Bruce Springsteen, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Buckcherry, Marilyn Manson, Mötley Crüe, Kid Rock, Eminem, Snow Patrol, Third Eye Blind, Paganini, Strauss, Schubert, Verdi, Vivaldi, Stone Sour, Breaking Benjamin, Godsmack, Iggy Pop, Uriah Heep, Whitesnake, The Killers, etc. Madonna etc can go to hell. their music is crap to me.
mmm personally im into indie rock and light rock. i love acoustic type stuff that i can sing to. don't get me wrong lady gaga is pretty cool too but you wouldn't see me gyrating in a club to dance music lol.
If I was at a club for dance music and they played Lady Gaga, I would obviously be in the wrong dance club... and no gyratin either...
