My wife and I are both bi, and have had our fair share of same sex fun. Neither one of us has attended a pride event/parade but I think it could be fun to experience it together
I love Gay Pride events. I wonder if folk who don't get the point of it all are fully cognizant of how we got here; Stonewall, the Upstairs Lounge, Pulse, Matthew Shepherd, Alan Turing, Oscar Wilde, and the hundreds of thousands of nameless victims of hatred, bigotry and homophobia. Thich Nhat Hanh once said that few know what a miracle pain-free teeth are until they have an excruciatingly painful toothache. I wonder if that explains the deafening silence as demagogues demonize their scapegoat-du-jour, Trans folk. Around the country, state legislatures are advancing hundreds of repressive homophobic bills specifically written to drive us all back into the closet; Alito and Thomas have explicitly stated that any challenge to Obergefell v. Hodges brought before the Court will receive a very sympathetic hearing. If you think it can't happen to you, re-read Niemöller, and ask any woman in need of abortion care who once mistakenly thought that Roe v. Wade was stare decisis. Yeah; people need forums and venues where they can celebrate who they are, celebrate victories hard-won, and most importantly, be reminded that they're not alone. You can't do that in the closet.
