I attribute it to the fact that they're not making the same distinction between being gay and being a pedophile. Its easier to say "I'm gay" than it is to say "I'm only attracted to 10 yr old boys."

(15) What’s intriguing is that 68 percent of the homosexual men did not identify as homosexual until after the abuse. Earlier research by Johnson and Shrier concluded that boys who had been sexually abused are 7 times more likely to identify as homosexual or bisexual than their heterosexual counterparts.

Why do you think people who are abused so often end up gay? Do you think they were abused because they were gay prepubescent boys, or they turned gay in larger numbers AFTER being sexually abused?

 

Many children are abused before they have an opportunity to come out either way. To be abused is also to challenge a persons sexuality regardless.
