The future of music will not only be sound waves, but also body waves. There will be nano plug-ins that tap into nerves all over your body. The body waves will be transmitted through the plug-ins, and into the nerves. This will allow you hear, as well as feel every piece of the music. Imagine your favorite song pulsing through your body while you listen to it!

Wow, and imagine being able to alter every sensory perception in your head; and not stop someone else from doing the same!

Nanotechnology shouldn't be encouraged, or disrespected anyhoot! I'd love the kind of thing you describe, i've read a book all about it, but that kind of force comes with a price. Start making friends with your local computer genius, he may need to hack your head and turn off the "eat more Maccy D's" robots in the near future.

Oh, and i think the music of the future will be a mix of recycled styles and influences from this and our past generations and genres, innovation built upon existing styles but refreshed/revamped and restylised through the wonders of technology that doesn't require a direct link the head, and hopefully a lot more open free from marketing, lots more of it being played live.

Stop asking for walkman, get a bongo and get scowls from old people.

when i play music with little kids i hear plenty of new music that'll be great if people will just quit telling them that it ain't music since then the kid probably just forgets how to do it or it half-ass comes back later in the sub-sound of some angst noise .

greenday - idiot america is an example of it beggining,as theres so many "punks" out there with easily influenced brains.

yes. good points. lots of stuff would be music if people would just appreciate it. listeners have to advance as far as musicians do. foster creativity in youth. too bad we "educate" them instead.

the passion of free music speaks to all , and it must be free to be one second into the future . in this kind of time we are all equal in our existence feeling . i think maybe it can't be recorded . there is a sound in it ... well , it's a sound that is heard but free in space like it's floating . sometimes with a bit of searching i can find the musician most responsible for it . it's got a funny reality ...

I kind of like the Low-fi "collage" type music I hear at alternative arts centers. Sort of a mix of sound objects and music. Sometimes it has some technological aspects, but not computerized. I also liked the D@S movement in the 90's. I think some hodge-podge of musical collage, and free jazz with the melody, subtledy and song structure of D@S would be wonderful. I'm sure poeple are already doing it, I just haven't been up on my music lately.

Did any of that make sense?

how can we get people to figure out that all this new rap and hip-hop isnt REAL music? The songs usually have no instruments worth noting, the singers all sound the same, and so do the beats.

Rap for another 20 years, just like the last 20. We'll have grandparents, parents, children, and grandchildren all growing up with the same kind of music. We're already getting to the point where both parents and their kids have grown up with rap.

I can enjoy rap occasioally, esp for dancing, but God, I love Hendrix! My hope for music in the future is that rock comes back, although its never been away for me. I really hop some people with good messages in their music get popular too. The world needs it. When I'm really mellow, I love CArole King and Bob Marley. (although, commercially, he is kind of popular) I think we also need some war protest songs. Whats this generations problem? Of course, I AM preeching to the choir since you all are here. But really! I think that people don't care enough anymore to have real "lessons" or messages or anything in music. We're satisied with "I smoke/ I drank/ I supposed to stop but I can't/ I'm a dog/ I love to fuck/ And I'm addicted to money/ Cause it costs/ Do it Big Big!" REally. I don't knnow! I miean that song is entertaining, but so is Hendrix! Bring Rock back
