No, I had to work. But I took my shoes and socks off as soon as I got to my car. It's been raining here, which means some muddy trails, but it gets dark too early after work and I'm gone this weekend. Mud will probably be gone before I can get out for a hike. Bummer. Maybe I can slip out of work early tomorrow and get some mud between my toes. Hmmm.
Thanks. I did! The soil here is very sandy and it doesn't rain very often anyway, so mud is scarce. However, there is a trail on the way home from work that runs along a commercial strawberry farm. A couple spots on that trail get muddy from farm silt and soil. I left work a bit early and had fun making several passes through the muddy areas, leaving some nice, obvious bare footprints. Also took a stick and wrote my little moniker "Hike Barefoot!" in the mud. Goofy, I know. I have no idea why I like doing this sort of thing, but I kind of just go with it. I don't get to do it very often. If I wasn't going out of town, I'd hit that trail again tomorrow. The mud is usually good for several days after it rains.
What is the big deal about going barefoot? i feel bad for you if its such a treat for you. Where I live people are barefoot all the time. In shops, walking down the street, in the sand etc..
are you on dial-up or something? i don't think i've ever seen so many double and triple posts as i have from you lately. i really don't know what even causes it, but i know i've seen slow internet connections take the blame for it in the past.
I agree. Sometimes posting from a cell phone is very unstable. I've tried deleting them, but no luck. Sorry!
What's up all of a sudden with these people posting lame negative comments? Escapees from the Mental Health Forum?
Dunno. This forum used to have way more activity, so posters have gotten bored, moved on, etc., leaving the few mud hens greater visibility. The forum used to be monitored, but that seems to have failed also. Throw in (or up) winter non-barefooting and there you are! Silence....lone wolves on the prairie...owoooooooooooo
I know nusp basically regards me as an irritant (I'd like to argue the toss about that!), but I'd say there's greater engagement with threads than before, because it's no longer being carried out exclusively by the 'hardcore' shoeless, anymore. This whole forum has been restructured, but I remember before that happened, looking back over pages of past threads once, and seeing a LOT that had only a couple of replies (and quite a few that had received no replies at all). I'm basically reiterating what I've said before, but I think that without some sort of tension or reactive input (from those as interested in questioning answers as in answering questions), this place is likely to head towards "So what?" shrug country (again).
I honestly don't know what you expect. Very often your threads will start with a line or two couched in a sort of zen-doggerel or done as naïf poetry. They don't offer a great deal of leeway! Many of them are almost like tiny, self-contained diary or blog entries. And you seem to lose your rag if people, at a loss at what else to do, offer up a bit of party-line dissent, as grist or roughage. Do you just want a lot of similar replies, or what? Genuine question.
