i'm so old i remember when a pocket calculator had two moving parts and you really did have to know how to use a kind of mathimatical slight of hand to use it, and it was called a slide stick.

when you had to go to an arcade to play video games, and they had vector graphics. when numerical displays used nixie tubes, or mechanical flip wheels.

 

It was called a "Slide rule"...

 

i knew you'd remember what i was talking about.

its been so long since i've used one i wasn't sure if i still had it. so i checked my tool box and there it was.
a little 6" k&e plastic one. my full size wood one i used to have is long gone though.

 

lol...They are now highly sought after collectables now. I've bought & sold a few at the swap meet.

 

my dad had one that was triangular shaped that utilized all three sides and you could do different/more types of calculations than with a flat one.

no idea whatever happened to it
