Holy shit. No wonder why most of the regulars left this place while I was still lurking here. From hardcore gangster wannabes that talk about fighting nonstop to the "peace loving" hippies, this thread barely has a bit of common sense.

To start with the obvious, Canadian weed prices differ greatly from American weed prices. Without factoring in currency difference, Americans pay roughly double what Canadians pay. It seems most of the Canadian regulars here (that are actually semi-intelligent and not a bunch of shit talking 14 year olds) claim dank/headies to be about $10 a gram. Everywhere I've been in the US (West coast, Midwest and several parts of the East coast) have varying prices for shit weed but dank/headies go for $20 a gram. Of course there are price cuts in larger amounts but when talking about the smallest amounts these are the generally agreed upon prices. One Canadian dollar is currently worth 86 US cents, meaning an someone with $8.60 in American currency could buy one gram in Canada. So when you factor in the current exchange rate, Americans pay nearly 2.5 times as much because of our stricter drug laws. The same seems to hold true for larger amounts of bud.

With a little bit of math and basic dealing knowledge, you'll know that broken up by the gram, an ounce of dank/headies will be worth $560. Sold in eighths for $60 each, the ounce drops to $480. This is typically what most small dealers expect to see on the ounces they push unless they sell a lot of quarters and halves. I've known dealers that would not cut a price break on a quarter, leaving the price at $120 and even when asking for a half ounce they would grudgingly take off $10 or $20. So a half ounce at $230 is really saving you $10 if your buying in eighths like most people. I once paid $220 for a half but never again. The most I will pay is $200 but typically get it for $180.

Most dealers are paying anywhere from $300-$350 for their ounces depending on how much weight they push. One guy I know was buying QP's for $1100 or $275 an ounce. The guy I went to for the longest time who was one of the best dealers I've ever had NEVER discussed "business". No one that bought from him had any idea who his supplier was or what he was paying. He typically picked up a HP a week and was making enough money to rent a decent house and pay his bills. He didn't live an extravagant lifestyle but selling eighths for $60 was making him good profit. My best guess is he was paying the equivalent of $30-$35 an eighth. When you subtract the small amount of personal that he smoked and left him with a conservative estimate of $20 profit/eigth, you are looking at $160 an ounce multiplied by eight ounces which equals $1,280 A WEEK. Even during slow times he was moving through a HP in no more than two weeks.

But again, that last part was all guesswork. The first guy told me his prices because he was a friend and honestly just didn't care. The second guy did it for a living while going to school and when something becomes business your mouth needs to stay shut. Even if you plan on selling any amount of weight, people will be nosy. What you are doing is already illegal because of posession, the next step you are taking is a felony in most places. It is no ones business how much you have, what you paid for it or how you got it. When someone asks if you are making a profit it is usually better to tell them you are trying to break even after smoking a little personal. If you are asked how much you have just keep repeating "how much do you want". If someone is going to throw out random numbers to see if you are sitting on big weight ask to at least see the cash first that would cover that amount. Where you got your weed from is the BIGGEST no-no especially when dealing with large quantities unless you are talking to your best friend who knows your hookup. People selling real weight (felonies that will almost certainly carry jail time) don't appreciate their name being brought up in any conversation that involves the words marijuana and selling.

My opinion on your pickup....you paid too much but you live, you learn. My advice would also to be careful about setting up large amounts thinking you'll be splitting it with people. Weed is still sold in a black market and things are nearly guarenteed to go wrong.

well first off, i never said this was a good deal... $200/half seemed a bit high but not TOO bad but anything higher was ridiculous.
but i STILL havent gotten this weed. im fucking pissed, right now im splitting the half with my friend so its costing me $115 for the quarter and im selling an 8th for $65 so im getting an 8th for $50... i was told i'd get it on monday at noon... and now my friend is telling me i shouldnt even count on getting it today.

any way i could convince this guy (my friend's dealer's dealer, so i have no idea who he is) to lower the price because it's already really high and hes been making us wait? he was supposed to pick it up on monday but he forgot, so he said tuesday... then tuesday didnt work for some reason, never called yesterday, now we're supposed to get it today but its doubtful...
