It was so cold this morning, I was walking all fast to my truck and dropped my laptop. It basically exploded. And it was 4 or 5 years old but I liked the thing a lot, even just put fresh windows 7 ultimate on it. So the screen is shattered and I could get it to output to my tv via hdmi cable after work, but I just went and got another laptop. It's windows 8 and a smaller. Went from 15" to 14". My hand keeps hitting the touch pad when I type and windows 8 is pretty wack overall. Just disappointing, and it's all because of the cold. Who uses windows 8 here? Please tell me I'll get used to this shit.
There were puddles on the way to work that were frozen solid.. in Florida. My dad said it was 13 in northern VA. It's 25 here right now. Not sure what is going on, but it's cold as hell and everything is shattering if you drop it. I dropped an inside out heavy glass bowl in my garage last night, it exploded. And I've dropped that thing a bunch of times. Been a ridiculous 24 hours
Socal gets cold a lot more than here, at least LA. I think San Diego is super maintained because it's in that little cut. But damn occasionally here it's insane. I have those plants in my yard that look like elephant ears, all dead. Banana trees, dead.
today's high here was 2. and i welcomed it, because it was literally the 3rd day since approximately december first that we didn't get at least 2-3 inches of snow. :nopity:
I live in a shitty rental house and the owner probably hasn't installed new windows in 30 years. I woke up this morning and there was ice inside the window. Plus you can feel a steady draft blowing in through the bedroom window. The foot of my bed lines up with the window so I pretty much froze last night. I'm pretty sure there is no insulation under the house because the floors are always freezing. Overall I really enjoy cold weather but living in this house in cold weather is irritating. I can't wait until I buy my own home with storm windows and a new heat pump.
I was in san felipe a few years ago eating fish tacos on the beach :2thumbsup: also drinking beer on the beach and riding dirt bikes on the beach those were better days for sure
I have a sheep wool / skin blanket that will keep you suuuper toasty. If you can try to find one of those, you should try it.
I'm really trying to feel for ya, man but it was -17 here yesterday. Shitty about the computer though.
I've been hitting this truck up a lot lately http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/44/1592239/restaurant/Neptune-Beach/Corner-Taco-Jacksonville Then the unnamed legit Mexican trucks. I have a Mexican friend who was like yo try this taco, I was super drunk and took a huge bite. Was like damn that's good what is that? Turned out to be cow tongue or stomach or something. Wtf.
That reminds me of the little bungalow I lived in. The a/c would run all day non stop in the summer, heat all night in the winter. It was really cold one night and the heater was on aux heat, which basically means the utility company is going to rape you. And it was still cold. My gf at the time was out partying and I was sick as hell, so I went to walmart and bought a bunch of space heaters. They helped immensely, highly recommended.
Actual or wind chill? And at least you are used to the cold, I'm not at all. And yeah really bummed about the computer. This thing is crazy though, you can pinch and zoom like an iphone or drag two fingers on the touchpad to scroll like a mac.
That was the actual temp according to my phone and some FB posts I saw. I think the official temp was -14f but that was from a city about an hour south of us. Crazy! And again...that sucks about the computer. I'd be bummed. Edit...wind chills were supposedly pushing -50f.
Damn!!! Yeah I was talking to my dad earlier tonight and he said one of his neighbors had a pipe explode. If I think about it, it could always be a lot worse than something like dropping my computer.
The Lowest I Have Ever Experienced Here Was -9c, So BBAD What Is The Lowest You Have....?? Cheers Glen.
