I typically can't stand watching sports but I did find it interesting watching the womens diving and volleyball. For some reason, I could watch that.
Really?? There has always been some type of "sport" through out history, why everybody hating on sports??
yeah, the olympics tell everyone to train like that. so far, they've only convinced some chinese people to do their bidding.
Gee, this thread is getting too cynical even for me. There is some awesomeness to the Olympcs. The 100m final is on in about 7 hours, I'm getting up to watch it. Because its one of the premier events (nothing to do with 8 black guys not being able to keep the tacklebox under control)
i guess i,m un-american also, just because i don,t watch the boring olimpcys, hell i can,t even spell it. lol
Now THAT is retarded. Sports can be unhealthy, or very healthy, it obviously depends on the sport and how it's done. Watching sports can be healthy or unhealthy, it depends on the amount of time spent and the attitude with which the watching is done.
I strongly disagree. Just because something is out of control and evil does not mean you should not, or cannot, complain. It means more people need to complain. Olympics are fine, but as they currently exist, they're a scam, and an insidious one. How about this: stimulus package to greece, they get the olympics for ever, as would make historical sense anyway. The whole thing is still like during the cold war.... "(the not-so-)free world" against the doping commies.
Lol, yeah sports where your brain gets slapped around like football or boxing might not be terribly healthy in the long run. Even in Soccer they're beginning to re-think 'heading' the ball, at least for young kids anyway... http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/soccer.html
The Olympics is educational for a lot of us. I mean if they aren't teaching kids the names of other countries in school, at least the kids can watch the Opening Ceremonies parade of nations and learn them that way! Where is Burkina Faso? I had to grab my atlas for that one. I like some of the sports. I don't know of anyone who really gets into everything. The corporate side of Olympics and the politics around it are the negative aspect. But I don't think that abolishing the Olympics will make the world a better place. I wish the events were all nude like they were in the days of the original Olympics of ancient Greece. I realize that too many people would object to it. But the idea was to celebrate the beauty of the body as well as have athletic competition. I don't see why that tradition has to be so vilified.
Oh you mean the ancient Greece where Pedophilia was not only accepted but was considered normal? LOL shouldn't be a mystery why they once suspended the Olympics due to a shortage of olive oil.
