Right now, that whole photoshop thing has grown to the point where it's not really about her anymore. People are just competing to show off their photo editing skills and creativity. It's a pop culture phenom.

Post Olympics, the difference between the attention Maroney has gotten vs Gabrielle Douglas has been curious.

Douglas got the Gold in the individual all round, quite an astonishing feat really. And yet seems to have been attacked cos her hair was scruffy during it. Then attacked cos she got too dolled up and looked to pretty for her publicity tour. A lot of the stuff on the net seems to be everyone bitchy cos she is too goody two shoes too perfect.

Whereas Maroney got the gold in the team final, but apart from that is the most famous silver medalist out of these games. And how many of the other US gold medallist names do you know off the top of your head?

Theres no such thing as bad publicity as the saying goes. Career wise, 10, 20 years down the track Maroney probably more likely to end up a commentator, or still in the public eye. Despite all that hard work and training, maybe 10 secs of sucking on a lemon face may be the best thing she ever did

Well, I posted that a few days ago. McKayla had to be upset and embarrassed at first, but now she's probably laughing as hard as anybody else.

Probably, a lot of hardcore sports fans were extremely pissed off at her reaction to the silver when she first got it, but everybody is over it now. The photoshop thing is just a funny game that will live on until everybody runs out of ideas. Somebody may even resurrect it a few months later, when we have another big news story that seems funny with her pic pasted into it.

Did you see the one where her reflection was seen in the curved, tinted visor of the astronaut's helmet on the moon? It takes a lot of talent to do something like that in photoshop and make it look 100% real! Dude was showing off.

Yeah, the press got turned off right away when Gabby played the militant religious card in her first interview. They thought, "Oh shit, she's gonna be worse than Tim Tebow!" It has gotten kind of ridiculous how many athletes in America have turned their success into a platform for their religion, even during the game itself. People who aren't into that are ready to say, "Enough already!" But it gets worse every year.

I'll bet you don't see much of that Down Under. All the world's obnoxious Christians seem to be living in the US.

Gabby's more recent interviews have been better. She's getting good coaching from somebody.

She needs to watch out. Four years ago, Nastia Liukin beat Shawn Johnson for the all-around gymnastics gold, but Shawn is more famous because she is a much more interesting TV person.

(Skipping over Michael Phelps for obvious reasons), Ryan Lochte is getting a lot of TV time, even though he is quite stupid, and Hope Solo has been all over TV for years, almost as much as Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh-Jennings. Kayla Harrison is getting a phenomenal amount of attention for someone from a relatively obscure sport, partly because she comes across well on TV. And some of us who don't regularly watch NBA basketball have learned the names of a few more players from our team. I had only known LeBron James and Chris Paul.

At the very least, pop culture trivia shows will be talking about her and showing the pics, even 30 years from now.

the look ok to me too. their skin sort of looks almost obscene, but that's not their fault in any way. so they're just another odd looking life form.
