Post here if you hate Xmas, and you can't be arsed with any of it again, another year. Same Xmas songs, adverts, Xmas TV films, Xmas dinner with the parents. Fuck it all. If I'd a thousand pounds I'd be in Goa right now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCxS9utqKD0
I'd rather be in Goa myself, that is Goa from about thirty years ago before it got trashed LOL! Christmas brings out the strangest emotions in people. Odd. It's a season of giving and peace, right? Oy vey, if it was only true. What have we gotten so far this holiday? An arrogant pompous president-elect who will bring CHANGE to the country like we have never seen before... A world on the brink of nuclear war... Rampant destruction of our valuable resources... And the icing on the cake, global warming! So I say Happy Holidaze and party like it's 1999, cause next year ain't gonna be so happy.
I like it as long as I stay away from the shopping crowds. I like how rooted in pagan tradition it is.
What part of Goa is that? I've only been to Arambol, Anjuna and Baga. I was all about the peace and giving until some bitch with a chip on his shoulder decided to fuck my whole life. I'm all about that anyway, but this on top of 6 years of tory rule and 20 years of cannabis discrimination means right now all I feel is cynicism and hate. Don't let me spoil the fun for anyone else though. Happy Xmas to you if it's your thing. I'd be happy spending my day walking the hills with a lump of hash in my pipe and a bottle of whisky and a warm fire at the end of the day. But it'll be another year with my boring parents, putting up with my dad moaning about everything and sitting about watching endless cop dramas with my mum. Woop de doo! Crack open an old bottle of port.
I like how it brings a message of hope and happiness to our brothers and sisters in Christ. For today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
I have never been to Goa, but I've heard goa-trance (it's another way of saying psychedelic trance, at least in my brain). I have posted this in other threads but will say again that my fam doesn't celebrate Christmas the way we used to. We used to do Christmas presents like normal. Now we do everything without the presents part. We also don't put up lights on the outside of the house. Inside we do have a tree (not a real tree) with lights and ornaments. I should show it to you guys but I'm a little shy about pics on the internet. Anyway, yea ... no presents. It's better this way in my mind. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pj5ra-Zh1R4
So really you Guys hate Life (or at least your bit of it ) ? I have Been and done the same things you all have I swear But I still love Christmas with a Child like Fervor Because it was Instilled in me By my family and at 65 I am not likely to change that anytime Soon TBH It would be a sad world if Christmas was Forgotten Sorry To fuck up your " Hate Christmas " Thread mate I will leave it out now Have fun !!
Firs ever night in Goa was First ever night in Goa was at an outdoor trance party and Goa Gil was the DJ. I emailed before going as well and got a reply. He's not my favourite Goa DJ though, would have been better heading up to the main party up hilltop but we didn't know. I wanted to go there by my mate wanted to stay put. It's all Israelis mostly DJing there, or at least it was 15 years ago. Israeli trance is quite interesting, very tribal and shamanic sounding, quite minimal too. I fucking love it. I think hip hop and R n B have started to take over the scene there a bit since I was there though, which is not so much my thing but I like some of it.
No I actually like life, I'm just surrounded by cunts who are intent on making my life as miserable as they can get away with, same old... My original plan for later in life to just disappear in India might be coming into effect next year, if I'm not in fucking jail. Can't walk a mile on this island without someone getting in your face and breaking your zen.
I think Infected Mushroom are Israeli. I haven't listened to them that much though. I think they are a sort of PsyTrance. Cool that you listened to that music. 15 years ago I was just getting into trance music. I liked John Digweed. He's the only big name I can remember from then. Oh, and Dieselboy but that's a whole other genre (D&B).
My old Teacher Disappeared in India !! I loved The Guy as a Kid He was the one that gave me a love for Music https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2003/sep/09/books.booksnews He left St Helens to travel the world, according to Mr Harding, hitchhiking to Australia via the Indian subcontinent. He returned to India and settled, where he became known not as "Jungle Barry" but "Mountain Barry." Halpin returned home shortly before dying of liver failure to say his last goodbyes. Mr Harding said it was always possible to tell he was home because of the empty bottles of Newcastle Ale piled up in his sister's hallway. He returned to Goa, where he died and was cremated. "He's home in Glasstown* from that Indian beach." The words would go out over the Guinness and the smoke, Three fingers of malt and the barmaid's touch. A mythology of Barrys rose. He was the bloke Who played the banjo all round Europe, climbed The Idwall Slabs alone half-pissed, who filled His sister's hall with chiming pyramids Of empty bottles when he came home from his trips. Australia, India, Africa, Japan, the bars and streets Of most towns in this world had known his sweet Wild music. "He could get" they said "a tune From a potato." * St Helens
Never really got into Infected Mushroom. Couldn't really name any of the DJs I heard when I was over there apart from Gil. X-Dream are pretty good though, they are from Israel and make some nice electro trance music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BBg6F0WFBs Also, I saw Analog Pussy in Holland ten years ago at a regular psy trance there, they were great. Bit more Ibiza trance though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMhGExOqgY0
intersting.. vury intersting... AP is good! I like that style quite a bit. The vocals are brilliant! Good post The Walking Dickhead!
Christmas has become a completely commercialized holiday. I hate Walmart anyway but this time of year, what with the music and the Christmas merchandise on display immediately after Thanksgiving, I find it particularly loathsome. That's what really turns me off Christmas these days, it has become all about buying stuff. We were poor growing up (circa 1970) but I swear those were the best Christmas memories I have...mom cooking a good meal, we kids making our own decorations for the house, Christmas records playing on our cheap turntable, a tree we actually went out and cut ourselves, the smell of candles burning...and a visit from Santa Claus of course. Each of us kids got one gift, and I know mom had to squirrel away money all year to make that happen. I'm sure I sound like an old fart but I just don't think today's kids (the middle and upper class ones anyway) really get all that much out of it; they already got more than they need and they're still miserable as hell. I'm a self avowed atheist, I have no trouble admitting that. But I have to side with the Christians on this one: Christ needs to be put back into Christmas! The dude said some cool stuff.
How can you bemoan your plan for Christmas day, sounds fairly ok to me. You should be grateful you're not burying a loved one in a war-torn country, sleeping rough or not having any contact with any one person and spending the day and night alone. I felt the same way many years ago and now I choose to spend the day with disabled or lonely, elderly people.
Apart from the impending court hearing in the new year. Pretty much what I'll be doing again this year?
