my friend is veeery upset with me for saying i don't like how david gilmour looks she made such a fucking big deal out of it that honestly, i'm seriously thinking of staying out of music discussion ever... i mean wtf, if this hurts so many feelings.......i should apologise...or wtf??
The movie about The Doors doesnt show the real Jim Morisson, he was more then a always drunk and high person, all that movie showed are his bad sides, probably because that's what the crowd wanted to see...
Morisson was brilliant, just with his poetry it shows, he was aware of the absurdity of life, and wanted so spread the message via his music... He had a troubled mind though, death being near him and all... Morisson is one of my favorite "rockstar" not only for his music, but mostly for his thoughts , i had a tough psychological phase last year and something that made me push through it *alive* was Morisson's works... i was in the same lunatic state of mind he had been while he had death on his shoulders. I respect the guy with all my heart
well i happen to love the doors. maybe not the movie as much but i definately do think that val kilmer did a good job portraying jim. i really really do. just bc you didn't dig the movie all that much, why say "fuck jim" basically? it's not his fault. he didn't ask for the movie to be made. "did you have a good world when you died? enough to base a movie on?" that line was pretty freaky... so, shake dreams from your hair && get over it
&& besides, jim was like the poet laureate of the 60s, he was more than drunk && high all the time, he was a musician && most importantly a poet. that's waht amde his music intersting. his mind && his thoughts. people idolize him now bc he was who he was && he didn't try to be anything but that. i respect jim. you should too. looka t all he accomplished in his short lifetime. wonderful timeless music && amazing poetry. i'm obsessed with him. i always have been
i believe my words were 'fuck jim morrison ... in the doors movie' and i believe i also said that the crap he was sayin in the movie was retarded or i meant to.. whateva. and also. i don't know what you're telling me to get over? the fact that i don't think he was a fucking god? because i am over it....
Micha ... that man in your sig haunts my dreams. The other night when I was tripping he was all I saw. Over and over and over and over and over and over. He just keeps going and going and going and going ....
When you get past all the hype and mythology you realise he was just a human being. A troubled, flawed human being... But a handsome one nonetheless And I love their music tho I don't listen to it anymore, I listened to it to death when I was a Jim-obsessive way back when. That movie is fun to watch just for the movie itself. You have to suspend disbelief. It was very loosely based on the book No One Here Gets Out Alive, which was itself a bunch of bullshit.
Jim Morrison was a good thinker--nothing more to me, really. He wasn't that great of a poet, but I like a few songs... I mean, I really can't say I hate the doors and I really can't say I love them. They're one of those bands where if I hear them on the radio, I can recognize it and be like "Oh, okay.. The Doors.. reckon I won't change it. I like people are strange and break on through to the other side, etc... He had a shitty organ player and Robbie Krieger was a weak guitarist, imo. I do think when he peaked during vocals, he was pretty good... Other than that, I really don't care or anything. I'll listen to it.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa....whoa....whoa...whoa whoa. Hold on a sec. Below average compared to TODAY'S artists? Who, praytell are these Mozarts?
ditto on all points sadie and brossie like em..and sadies pretty whatever...so if they put em on i figure its easier to listen than to try to argue with her
Sometimes I wish God had a gigantic beard and wore a suit with a bolo tie, and a big white stetson... You know... a cross between Santa Claus, Billy Gibbons, and Kenny Rogers.
Derek Trucks, Jeff Tweedy, Stephen Stills, Ronnie VanZant, Phil Ochs, David Byrne, John Hiatt, Brian Wilson, Neil Young, Jimmy Buffett, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Cockburn, Tom Waits, James Taylor, John Fogerty, Jeff Foss, etc. You know, songwriters...
You know he might....he just might. btw. The majority of the people you listed are Morrison's contemporaries or came before him. So they don't necessarily count.
