soooo iv washed my dreads heaps (well like twice aweek maby) and iv gottn as much wax as i can out, but theres still a little bit left in them (havent put anymore in, it just hasnt come out) and im bit worried that if i give it a deep clean and get all the wax out (i want to reeeaaalllyyy bad) they will just fall apart and just be straight hair again. iv pulled one apart and it was just straight hair up until about the roots. my hair wouldnt have a chance at dreading itself coz my hair was so straight and smooth that i never had to comb it and it would never knot at all. what should i do? leave it? id wash it out and if it did fall out, back comb it again but im worried that the fukn perming solution and all the shit that silly bit** at the salon did to my hair might have made it thin and made my hair fall out. should i just let it grow? thnx guys
I suggest you stop worrying about it. If you brush them out and re-backcomb, you'll probably just damage your hair more, and then they'll just fall out again anyway after a few washes. At least some of it will. It's the way it is. If you live near the beach go swimming, if not you could use some salt sprays or use it when you wash to help the hair get a little courser. Just don't overdo it. Otherwise just sit it out. If you're prepared to wait then they'll get there in the end. If not then go ahead and crochet, wax whatever so they "look" like dreads straight away. (I'm not advising you to do this of course). Check out this thread if you haven't, it's a good timline which shows the difference between the early weeks/months to a year a half. http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=351050&f=209
i can go for a swim in the sea whenever so thats algud =]. just a question, how does sea water help them? always been curious about that thnx
To be honest with you I have no idea why it helps, I'm not a scientist. Like I said it seems to have the effect of making the hair courser and not so soft, more wiry. just take my word for it, it helps. It's also really good if you can to let them dry in the sea air/sun as well. If you look at people who've grown locks and spend a lot of time at the beach around the sea air, they are always really awesome. Anyway looking at your location, you should be really close to the sea. Lucky
just chill out man. if you said you pulled them apart and nothing was locked except the roots, I'd say that's progress! Yes, it's that fucking slow, but it's progress. Leave them alone and don't touch them too much with your hands either. Maybe wear a wool hat (when they are dry) and rub it around or sleep with it on.
Yeah this is rich coming from me but just leave it and let them do their own thing! They'll soon sort themselves out
must be around 7 or 8 months now. Have a few good ones. About 5 of the roots of the back ones are matting together =] which i am letting do by them self. then have the odd 3 or 4 that have matted together. the roots have started coming out dreaded. I thort my hair was just gonna end up a mess, but i like the way they are going. they seem alright to me. sorry bwt the crap photos. havnt done anything to them. just wash them and taken crap from people telln me i need to get them redone (it really does get annoying i must say). the one thing i dnt like about them is that were they are not knotted the hair is wavy and dnt knw what to do to fix it. guess as it knots the wavyness will go.
of course they dont look too bad. Women with make up dont look too bad. Its the effect of Chemicals! Its the "Instant look" that chemical fullfill. EWWWWY! hellodreadhead- HAHAHA on the "WTF is neutraliser? Odor neutraliser? I hope not." comment! what in neutralizer anyways???
