My thought wasn't so much concerning those who bring life to our dreadlocks but of the notion of some native tribe in India or Jamaica that is called the shitheads. It honestly never occurred to me that fecal matter would serve as hair styling gel... and quite frankly it still hasn't occurred to me. It likely never will save for potentially a very special time during my sunset years when my inter-cranial software might get infected with the Alzheimer's trojan rendering me incapable of differentiating between macaroni and kittens, toothpaste and motor oil, poo and pomade... you know- the basics in life. Flaming in such circles would likely create infernos on the heads of those who were wearing "Dippity-Dung"... which would be a nice brand name for the commercial version available mostly in open air markets.
Seriously though from my admittedly cursory look into the subject, it would appear to be more of a religious thing and not necessarily an all the time type of adornment. The most references were to Religious sects in India. Small tidbit from Wiki; The Shaiva Nagas, ascetics of India, wear their jata (long hair) in a twisted knot or bundle on top of the head and let them down only for special occasions and rituals. The strands are then rubbed with ashes and cowdung, considered both sacred and purifying, then scented and adorned with flowers.
you sure can string words together into a vivid picture.. some people like the smell of a freshly manured field disclaimer:the opinions of several in this thread in no way represent the opinions of myself or any other normal people
Maybe mushrooms are grown in the cow dung before they put it on their heads. I can see how that might be religious.
Yep, grunter...but you're not a grunter, you're more of a... a combination of uhh, err...well, I prolly better not go there... I think Mike Reeds analysis of different peoples posting (flaming) strategy's provides extremely valuable insight into poor netiquette of which I dare say none of us here are completely guiltless. IMHO, it should be made the ultimate "sticky" for all internet forums ZW
"The Congress of Hipforums shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech" unless according to court precedent it poses an imminent threat to the security of the nation of Hipforums, it is obscene, or incites violence. The people have spoken:smash:
Okay, IB and lunar obviously you pussed out too quick to find out that they actually require no maintenance at all. some people in the dreadlock forum get defensive, myself included, because people come in there to harass us and sometimes we just wish they'd read the faq before posting the same threads over and over again.
It's not a matter of "pussing out". Perhaps if the people had been friendly I could have stuck around longer. I went in harmlessly and got insulted and told to leave literally within seconds. I'm not the only one who has experienced this.
this thread strayed a little..it is interesting to me that some here do not feel welcome in certain forums,to the point that they wont post there? i do hope that I havnt scared a regular member out of any forums
Well, the topic of shit was about the dung that some people rub into their dreads during religious experiences. The rest of the shit was me saying that I had once been driven out of the lesbian forum for asking an innocent question. Then I also said that I got chewed out in the dread forum for the same thing. I also stated that it seems like a needy hair cut due to the drying techniques and all the pictures they require the owner to take of them.
jesus.. if the HF's abide by congressional law.. then i'm out.. because we've seen how well that works here in the good ol US of A
