A few months ago I found out about a website called Giveaway of the day. Since then, I started searching for more giveaway sites and software freebies around the web. I've actually found a good handful of websites that offer giveaways and free promotional products from various software manufacturers. Top notch, quality software from reputable companies as well! It's amazing how many utilities they offer and how well the software performs, being free and all.

I figured I'd share these sites with you all.

    Giveaway Radar
The main listing. My go-to site to see for giveaway and freebie news.
    Updated daily!

    Most i Want
The second most useful site when it comes to finding software freebies.
Not as much content as Giveaway Radar, but sometimes they have deals they might have missed.

IObit Driver booster Pro is free for the next few days I believe? One site to get it is Bits Du Jour and it's also on Shareware On Sale

It's a great reliable tool to use to update all the drivers on your PC at one time. I swear by it and it hasn't failed me yet, like a lot of other driver updating programs have.

Also, there's a Silent Automated Installer Builder today on Shareware On Sale. Great to use if you have multiple things to install and don't want to hassle with installing them all the time. Like if you frequently restore backup system images of your PC. Handy tool to have.

Silent Install Builder is a $200 value! For free :)

Most of the free software on the web these days is cram-packed with PUPs, if you fuck up and forget to check or uncheck a box, or fail to safely navigate through all the trickery during download and install, you can end up with an uninstallable third party program on your hardrive.

Yeah, I've encountered a few programs that install unwanted adware even when unchecking the optional boxes. Ended up having to reimage my windows PC. Usually anything found on Giveaway Radar is free of that garbage tho. The one I came across was from a 3rd party site. Those (from GR) have been legit so far.

if u know how to use an assembly debugger you can find shit like that and edit it out of the binary by making the flow of the program jump past the code that implements the undesirable behavior. people say learning asm is a waste of time, but this is how pretty much all "cracked" software is made so learning just a tiny bit of asm to know whats really goin on under the hood is on my to do list .. after i learn at least one additional high level language cuz asm is pretty useless for actually coding in except in a very few cases. learning more algorithms and data structures is a better use of my time

you cant use a regular debugger like gdb b/c they dont leave debugging symbols in the binary in release builds ... i suppose you could try to decompile it and then recompile with debug symbols in.

most software makes you agree to some terms of acceptable use promising that you wont decompile, reverse engineer, or dissassemble the code.

Not much on the free software front lately...

If you're looking for a great video converter/minimal editor, Aiseesoft Total Video Converter has been up for grabs for a while.

You'll find it if you scroll down a ways on this page.

I like it. Pretty packed as far as editing features and available codecs go.
