free presents, anyone?

say if you posted something to me, i might have to pay import tax on it.. so youd pay delivery and export tax (maybe?) and then id have to pay an import tax on it... but i think that depends on the weight and size, and what it is etc

my sis ordered a scarf and a hat from america last year and had to pay around £30 import,, she wasnt happy.

 

you only pay import if the tax is more than £7, and then they stick you with a surcharge and it ends up more like £25. So basically mark it as a gift and only claim a $$ value of the materials used to make it (that's all the royal mail will insure anyway so fuck them if we can't use it to our advantage) so unless you spend like £40 on materials then you shouldn't have to pay duty.

 

so maybe we should like keep the weight and such in mind when we make something for someone in a different country?

hoe does this shit work with regards to getting presents from several people, because as far as I am aware all I'm at right now is persuably sending a reciprocal gift to sflove and that's the end of it.

or to put in another way, there are far more presents than there are people getting them, with such a small pool of people this whole 1:5 thing is going to trail out pretty fast and everyone will owe gifts, so can we all start calling them in from each other one build up a massive present debt?
