Yeah, I gotta love FZ... I don't know if I have a favorite album, there are just too many to choose from! I really like his jazzy-fusiony stuff (Hot Rats, Grand Wazoo, etc.), but there are a couple other albums that stand out though in my mind-- We're Only In It For The Money and You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore, Vol. 2 (The Helsinki Concert). One of the groups I played with in college was heavily influenced by Zappa, to the point of matching the instrumentation on the Helsinki disc (I was the mallet player/percussionist in the sextet) and covering a few of his tunes ("King Kong" was one of our favorites!)

I have posted a couple Zappa threads on here, they're just buried about 20 pages deep. Zappa is an incredible musician, his manipulation of time signatures is unbelievable. My two favorite albums would be "Freak Out!" and "Apostrophe." A truly great guitarist and musician.

Overnight sensation? Um, no. No one liked to book them at first because you couldn't dance to their music.

Yeah volume two is good, but some of the songs on volume one top volume two. The lyrics in "I'm The Slime" are amazing.

Everyone should check out his appearance on "Crossfire" from 1986. You can find it on www.ifilm.com
