    Gods I love the Fraggles!!! Little hippies that live underground!!!

    I just found the first 3 episodes of Fraggle Rock on DVD...I hope they release more! I've tried to turn my kids on to them, but my two oldest kids (9 & 6) think it's kinda silly...but my 4 year-old daughter loves them, so I have someone to watch them with! :)

    Fraggles Rock!!!

    Wow, the Fraggles. The Dozers used to be little pencil pushing pricks and the only thing I remember when I was young was not to become like them. Look where it landed me! Yay for the Fraggles.

    I watched the Fraggles here in Germany, when I was a young child and I really, really loved them!

    And don't forget the lima bean soup! And radish gumbo!!! :)

    Yeah, the Fraggles were definately hippies! I was re-introduced to them as an adult by a Wiccian friend who said that they seemed kinda like "Wiccian-hippies"!!! (I am more of the geek-nerd type, but I have a big hippie streak, so...)

    My fav Fraggle was "Cantice"...he was the wise, mystical "traveling minstral"/guru Fraggle, and he was played by Jim Henson himself...and he had a "magic pipe", LOL!!!

    [IMG]

    When Gobo became a skeptic (you go Gobo!) went all the way to the center of Fraggle Rock to find the Great Bell at "the Heart of the Rock", and found nothing there but an empty cave, and so had a crisis of faith, Cantice told him that he went to the _center_ of the Rock, not Heart - the Heart or the Rock wasn't a place, was in *every* Fraggle!!! :)

    (As an atheist and a skeptic *and* a big Joseph Campbell fan, I loved the message that religion is about what is inside of us, not somthing that is about literal places...)

    I loved that song Cantice used to sing!

    "One, two, play me do,
    make me sound as sweet as you,
    Play me wide, play me long
    let me be your song
    ..."

    (hear it here)

    The music in the Fraggles was the BEST!!! (Not like that inane Barney crap that makes me want to shoot myself...and take barney down with me!)And anyone remember the mudbunny episode??? My absoulte favorite...it was about friendship, loss, death & reincarnation!!!That episode had a great song as well;

    "Feel the water flowing,
    Feel it comming, feel it going,
    It the river, in the ocean, in the sky...
    (something, something)
    One day it's a tear drop in your eye
    .."

    That show was so amazing and so deep and so wise and so beautiful, and unlike crap like Barney didn't insult kid's intelligence (or adults) or talk down to them!!!

    Jim Henson was a GOD!!!

    Oh, and I just got to add one thing...

    Sometimes I feel that Fraggles like each represented a part of myself...part of all of us:

    Gobo was the explorer/adventurer/skeptic/hero
    Mokey was the poet/artist
    Boober was the obsessive-compulsive hypocondriac worrier who loved to cook
    Red was the sarcastic little kid who wanted to be better at everything that everyone else
    and Wembley...Wembly was the doubt and uncertainty and indecision in all of us...the part that feels so small and insignificant...(I still say I "wemble" when I can't decide on something....)

    Fraggle Rock is a great show. Jim Henson is definitely one of my heros.
