The game of the REPUBLICAN PARTY has been to try to convince the "everyday man / woman" that they will be better off voting for them, while instituting policies that cut red tape for the rich, and add red tape to the everyday person. Just look at how THE REPUBLICAN PARTY has screwed over small business people in this pandemic. The big corporate boys got hundreds of millions of dollars in paycheck protection money to keep people on the payrolls, but the small business guys / gals got red tape, delays, delays, no answers, more delays. ............................ But Rump and THE REPUBLICANS in Congress eliminated the watch dogs to oversee who got money, IF they actually kept people on the payrolls, and even went so far as to say publicly that they weren't going to divulge who got the money. PUBLICLY REFUSED.

And the REPUBLICAN PARTY claims to be "transparent" !!!!!!!!!!!!! How is hiding things from American taxpayers and secrecy being "transparent" ???????????????? Do average, non-rich Republicans like having their tax money doled out to rich people and big corporations with NO OVERSIGHT??? And then get the run-around when it comes to getting "PPP" money for your own businesses??? That doesn't sound like the Republican party I grew up seeing. They were hawks on where the money went, and what it was used for.

Turns out .................... several REPUBLICAN Congressional members and 1 Democrat got money for their businesses. Several cronies of Rump and some tangled-web family members & business associates also got money.

After those facts became public knowledge, some of those hypocritical, criminal leeches had to return the money they got after being heavily shamed in public. The news media is the entity that broke the crooked news ....................... NOT Rump and THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.

Turns out ................................ it's a VERY GOOD THING we have objective media outlets, and a FREE PRESS - as the Constitution mandates.................. or we would have never known of the monetary abuses.

 

Canceled the Fair Housing Act, did the orange one. (or intends to) The suburbs will now be safe again from the incursions of those infernal darkies. I mean they've had the unmitigated gall to try and move wherever they could afford for years. The nerve!

We had a black family 3 house away from our home. They kept the place up - nice & neat, lawn cut, bushes trimmed, and VERY QUIET. You never knew they were around. And guess what??? They were Democrats!!! I talked to the husband / father several times .................. very friendly and well-spoken guy.

Once he got transferred with his job, a white family moved in the same house. The place went to hell. Lawn not cut - only about 3 times per summer. Bushes & trees overgrown. Nothing trimmed. No building upkeep. Trash in driveway.

I wish that black family was still here. They were friendly, neat & tidy, and quiet - never a noisy ruckus over there. Kids were good students in school too. Skin color should NOT matter - but rather their character & behavior.

The real threat to America has been right wing males for decades. It doesn't mean they are all like that. However, they are also the group most likely to have assumptions based on a broad stroke. The good Muslim and black people have "nothing to worry about if they are innocent" so it's OK to assume that all are bad until they personally prove to you otherwise.

Guilty until proven innocent is the Fox way. Most times a black person is shot by white police it's Fox that is the first to break the story that in the 8th grade they shoplifted and at 25 they were arrested for marijuana possession. Pretty soon half of America thinks he deserved to be shot.

Busy lady. Earlier in the week she was arrested in Cape Coral Florida for causing a disturbance. Earlier still, lat month, she and her sidekick Edmee Chavannes, were arrested illegally protesting outside an abortion clinic. She was also in Seattle, protesting CHOP. She does get around. Who is funding her?

That's her right, of course, so long as she respects the rights of others. The abortion issue seems to be the main thing that drove her into the Trump camp. She and Chavannes are co-founders of At the Well Ministries. You don''t strike me as the religious fanatic type, so I gather your admiration for her stems from her usefulness to the MAGA movement. So far, just a lot of emotional blather. Nothing she says makes much sense, and I doubt she'll have much of a following outside the white circles of the Fox News set. She and her co-religionist seem to be operating mostly alone, for the benefit of the camera crews.

As I keep saying you need to look at the evidence and that doesn’t seem to back you up – it has been shown that actually social mobility (in either direction) is very low that people born into advantage are likely to remain advantaged and the same with those born into disadvantage.

And again it has been shown that gender and race can have a detrimental social and economic impact on people.

That does not mean social mobility does not take place and that people can find success.

What seems to be happening here is that you are purposely trying to ignore these problems because even if you were going with a belief you could educate yourself about the reality.

You would need to explain what you need by success but putting that aside.

Again this seems to imply that the reason certain people do not succeed is because they don’t work hard.

But if you looked into the issues around social mobility you would understand that been born into advantage gives a person greater opportunities to succeed that a disadvantaged person.

Like the disadvantaged runner, they could actually work a lot harder than the advantaged runner but still have no chance of getting to the finish line first.

An averagely intelligent student from a advantaged background is in a position to get all the help they need to succeed and can easily pay for extra tuition and higher education while even an above average but disadvantaged student could struggle. Now if you multiply that a million fold you can see how social mobility can stagnate as the advantaged and disadvantaged become entrenched.

But is not just education there are many factors that can contribute to this problem including race and gender.
