So here's the deal. When I try to access the forums I get the following message:
    Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /forum/ on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

This occurs every time I try to access on my Win7, Win10 and Android phone, all using the same WiFi and LAN setup. The phone can access the forums every time on any other WiFi I try it on.

So I assume its not related to the computers but seems to be more of an IP block. I tried contacting the forum server site via email, which I believe is in California, but they never responded.

A couple hours ago I emailed my provider, but I don't expect a reply till next week, as the week end is here.

This has been going on for couple weeks now. I have been using the same provider for about 3 years and never had the problem before.

So the only way for me to access the forums through my home is by a proxy. I'm using VPNBook as it is one of the only ones that will let me sign in, most others chop off the sign in portion of the page. VPN is a random proxy site in that it uses random proxies. Some times it will return the following: The requested resource could not be loaded because the server returned an error:
    403 Forbidden (?).

Then I try again or restrict it to Canadian proxies, I think...or was it UK?

Anyway, the proxy sites don't seem to support the preview post features and some other stuff...like I can't change fonts, hot link, etc.

I assume Skip hasn't zapped me with a Hip Forums IP block as I still have mod status.

This seems to be the only site on the entire WWW that I can't get to.
The only info I can find seems to point to the forum's server blocking my IP, not the forum software.
Any ideas what's going on? This is a pain in the neck.

i've only gotten this when using a VPN or using TOR. I have noticed that my IP has been blocked by some other sites though. IPv4 addresses are probably being reassigned and you're on a blacklist.

unplugging a modem won't always get you a new IP, it depends on the ISP, sometimes it will get you a new IP but it will still be on the same IP block which may or may not matter, but trying to get your ISP to switch you onto a totally different block of IP addresses is difficult to impossible.

Yeah that was me Spiff, can't quote you by the way.

I flagged Darrell Kitchen as a test without realizing there is no unflag option with the update. (I think Skip can unflag, but we can't).
Darrell doesn't care as he has no desire to come back.

My profile doesn't show a flag as far as I can see, don't know what Skip sees.
I'll shut down my modem tonight and see what happens.

    Thanks for the input everyone.

    BTW...I looked up FAP.

that was it ..i just didnt remember it right

it just sounds to me like a server issue not a provider issue..but im no expert

maybe you share ip with someone else that was flagged...i have no idea what flagging does ...there is probably a way for admin to see spam ip lists and compare yours to see if its limited somehow but again im just guessing...invision board kind of sucks for info like that

Seems to be a server problem as my provider can access the site...I have a dynamic address which they tell me will eventually change.

Resetting modem may or may not work...hasn't worked the 6 times I tried...oh well.

One of the main problems to FAP is Corrupt Online Connectivity Killers, otherwise known as COCK blockers.

Lo and behold....I'm back running on all cylinders!

It appears there was a problem with the server, or site.

This is always a problem when in a country using dynamic ADSL. With business internet the problem is even worse, due to businesses spamming with sales material and getting blocked by Barracuda .
When one of our companies changed to static IP for their email server, it had to be changed several times before finding a connection that was not blocked everywhere.
Here in the UK, simply rebooting the modem normally changes a dynamic IP address first time.
