Evangelicals already make that argument. And their facile understanding of the issue leads them to promote abstinence only education in areas of the world where a quarter of the population has HIV.

It has no effect. Dealing with problems realistically is much more effective then complaining about the world not being utopic.

I figured you probably would, which is why I wasn't more of a sarcastic dick in tone. ;)

I would never be for forced abortion.

Sorry about your friend Red, and that is an extreme flaw in Thai society in my opinion

There have always been "mistake" babies. That has nothing to do with the current times, it goes back farther than that.

    Quite the contrary..

I understand that anyone can make any choice at any time for any reason.

No personal action is excusable from personal choice... nothing "must" be unless you accept it as such.

I have great faith in humanity, and a world of my laws would have no laws, because everyone would be raised into a world that understood the concept of peace... and as a result the world would be free from such notions as greed and corruption, looked upon as relics of a past ignorance.

And what is a realistic approach?

Abstinence is not the answer... nor is marriage itself.

The answer lies in the mind of each person... to understand why each action is taken is to understand what must be done to achieve a goal. A goal of a continued and peaceful existence doesn't allow for women to get knocked up to keep a man, or the other way around... or a baby coming into the world as a complete mishap...

Its on the shoulders of those involved to make a decision that effects all of the world. Given that understanding, its illogical to rush into sex as an act of pleasure... the means do not justify the end, the end must ALWAYS justify the means.

To accept things as they are is to accept a world incapable of change... things change, THAT is the way of the world.

    That's unrealistic.

Trying to swim against the current and you'll drown.

Sail across the current and eventually you can reach anything. Change takes time and compassion.

If anyone curious about the etymology of the word ostracized, it came from the fact that early bird researchers did not accept ostriches as true birds.

    What is unrealistic?

Change does not come from compassion... change comes from understanding. Compassion says its "ok", understanding says whatever makes sense... understanding avoids such situations in the first place.

A current of people that follow other people into the abyss... there is no change in following... the only way to change is to form your own river... the most noble of tasks is digging the ditch that may become a river of peace for all.

It is okay. Its okay. Go with the flow. You cannot control your whole world. Whatever may be, its okay.

Said sarcastically you say exactly what I'm saying :)

You can most definitely control *your* world... you may do as you please at any moment within the limits of your body.

To understand such choices DO have an impact on the world is to understand HOW to change the world.

Stepping on a blade of grass may turn that land to a desert 10,000 years from now, perhaps smiling at a person will set forth a change in their life - which they pass to others, etc etc until your smile can be shown as the turning point in regards to world peace...

Our lifetimes cannot see such things happen... but our lifetimes can be used to direct such change to happen.

Cranky, why aren't you out there saving the world instead of sitting on your ass and wasting time here?

Shouldn't you be in Thailand stopping forced abortion? Teaching sex-ed?

Anyhow, sorry to hear about the whole forced abortion thing.

I should be exactly where I am.

I seek to solve all issues - not one... this cannot be done without discussion.

I am here for discussion, this is in no way a waste of time... and in fact is a much more useful way to spend time otherwise spent looking for a way to put such ideals into the masses. Such a thing is not so simple as hopping on a box on a streetcorner in chicago and preaching... it goes much deeper than that.

Here, now, such ideals are generated so that they may prosper.

    I completely disagree.

    Discussion is pointless without action.

It's all bullshit. I have no respect to people who talk a lot yet do nothing.

Saying everything should just be such way, without offering any kind of counsel or meditation on how to affect such change, is unrealistic.

    And you're bad with metaphor.

I offer the exact way to make it happen.

"the most noble of tasks is digging the ditch that may become a river of peace for all."

was a perfect response to your metaphor...

    My action is this discussion.

I do not seek followers... I do not seek recognition... I only seek to open the minds of those that currently do not allow for such ideals to be processed.

Once you remember people (this includes you) are individuals responsible for their own path - but their (this includes you) actions effect the world in infinity, you are ready for a peaceful existence.

I'm talking to people right here, right now... a person wrote this, and a person will read this...

Just as well as holding a conference, a conference I would not be able to arrange in person.

Your action is discussion? That's such bullshit.

...and out of all places, you decide to preach right here? You must realize that you're spewing ideals that most of us have outgrown. You must think that every person in the world is lost, and that you know how to save society. What makes you think that you know what's good for me better than I do?

Okay, what's the exact way to have more responsible planned parenting so that in your words, 'never brings an oops birth into the world?' What's your plan to prevent myopic pregnancy?

Or to affect social taboos in a country you probably know little about?

please draw me the map. If you do I'll follow it. But I want details, nothing facile.
