I know for my tobbaco pipes, I put a thin layer of honey water if its new around the inside of the bowl which helps build up a layer of caked on crap that doesnt burn. Once you get the pipe broken in and have a good caking of resin and other crap dont be afraid to scrap it but dont scrape away all of it.

I don't have any actual homeade peices because mine aren't good for very long. When I'm in a pinch or want to take a trip back to the good ole days I use an apple. Cheap, easy, and tasty.

But this grown-up (19) just bought a new bong and doesn't see the need for an apple anytime soon.

I'm sure the clay is a lot safer than plastic. Seriously, BAD IDEA.

Have you thought of making a lightbulb vaporizer? I made one that worked pretty well, then it occured to me that I was using a low-heat candle but I haven't had a chance to try it with a hotter flame.

plastic releases toxic chemicals when heated, seriously just use the wood one unless you enjoy inhaling foreign things.

Yea that whole plastic thing is no good, if you're dead set on having one though throw some tin foil over the top and press it down into a bowl with a few holes poked in it. Tin foil isn't too great for you either but its better than melting plastic.
