I see, so it's by default hypocritical because you conclude the reason why another individual might do it has to be to feed their ego. Perhaps this is a bit generalizing and says more about yourself Anyway, if one is real strict we could say indeed if you know what goes in a smartphone it is hypocritical to buy one and support that production process. If you know what goes on in the meat industry and you like meat how in earth is it hypocritical to buy organic and free range and limit your overal meat consumption to 3 days a week...?
Organic grown cows are gonna be slaughtered too, no matter if you eat meat 1, 3, 5 or 7 days a week. Or even on an even number of weekdays. Once again, the hypocritical part is the part where you feed your ego instead of really care for a cow.
Factory meat is sick meat that is loaded with bacteria, hormones, pesticides, antibiotics, and who knows what else. I eat organic, free-range, grass-fed beef because it is healthier -- not because of how the cows are treated. This is why probably most people eat organic meat -- for the health aspect. I believe that meat is part of a healthy diet, and I eat it every day, whether it be poultry or beef. Also, the slaughtering process really isn't the inhumane part. It's how the cows are kept and treated up until that point. Most factory farm cows are downer cows which can barely walk or stand (if at all) and are left to fester in their own shit. You really are an idiot sometimes. (SOMETIMES??)
You really believe that it is healtier? Let's agree that we are both idiots then. Dude, don't talk about things you know shit about. You think you know it all, but you are such a pompous ignorant dick sometimes. (SOMETIMES??)
It is healthier!!!! It is a proven fact that grass-fed beef is lower in fat and calories, and is higher in omega-3 fatty acids, and higher in CLA (conjugated linoleic acid). ORGANIC MEAT IS WAY WAY WAY HEALTHIER THAN NON-ORGANIC, FACTORY FARMED MEAT.
Of course it's gonna be slaughtered, that's not the problem, but if it lived free range and had organic food those are not small differences. If the whole industry would feel that this is what the consumers want (even if it was to fit their own ego's which it isn't) and had to act upon it was it not worth to make this personal change in your weekly consumption? If you yourself don't start with such things despite that you also care how the industry is handling meat products than it would be righteously called hypocrisy. When you actually do so it might be to feed your own ego (although to project that on everyone you don't even know in person...) but it would not be as hypocritical as stating it does not matter at all while you know it could make a change for the better.
To each their beliefs I suppose. I always like to think that eating McDonald's once a week is good for my kidneys, so I eat McDonald's once a week.
I go to the snackbar once a week and usually get some meat snack with my frites too. Nothing wrong with giving in to a guilty pleasure when you compensate your meat consumption in my opinion. It can be called hypocritical by a vegetarian as well, I don't care in the end. But I do think we can influence the meat industry with our overall meat consumption and to be apathic or fatalistic about that while you care and are aware of what's happening in the industry is certainly one of the most hypocritical stances you can take here.
What is hypocritical about being okay with what happens in meat factories? Humans are superior, so we do what comes natural. If lions could breed goats for their food, they surely would do so. I bet they rather enjoy lying in the sun than chasing some unwilling prey.
There can be important differences between intensive bio industry and just farming and eating cows and you know it.
a friend of mine raises free range chickens they spend all day pecking each other and killing the weak...and eat their own shit personally i prefer eating a chicken whose shit fell through the cage floor and wasnt a cannibal
Do you know how incredibly stupid that sounds? What do you think they do when they keep three or four cooped up together in a single cage where they cannot even move around?? lol... wow. So you'd rather eat a chicken that's been soaked in the shit of other chickens? Interesting. You do know they stack the cages on top of one another, so all that shit falls on to the other chickens. That is the environment factory farmed chickens and eggs come from. You don't even know what you're talking about.
I've been on chicken farms before. So what is your point exactly? The point you're arguing sounds ridiculous, since you seem to be saying chickens raised in unnatural, unsanitary environments are better than chickens that are allowed to roam freely, outside of cages, and not swimming in their own shit and that of other chickens. That is what you're saying, correct?
I ate a slice of prosciutto today. It's one of my weaknesses. And I ate some grilled chicken yesterday, that's all the meat I've eaten so far this week. I've had eggs though.
^yeah, roosters do serve no purpose beyond breeding chickens. and being fucking annoying. but as far as chickens, i've had quite a few of them, and i've only seen them attack each other a couple times. it does happen, but it's still an anomaly.
