1st - fish 2 ground beef 3 steaks 4 ham 5 chicken.. maybe oven roasted turkey is 5th is pretty damn good...
For dinner tonight I had a freakin' huge amount of turkey (probably close to 2 lbs) and a large piece of steelhead trout. That was my protein fix for the day.
its not that meat isn't murder, its that murdering for meat is a perfectly ordinary part of nature. its not that i'm pleased with industry's methods, its just that i'm emotionally dependent on massive intakes of protein. i like to say i'll eat anything that doesn't eat me first. this is mostly true. i try to eat a lot of non-meat nutrients too, and i know that that a protean rich diet CAN be achieved without actual meat, although most non-meat eaters seldom actually do, and often have health issues as a result of failing to. but psycological satisfaction is an important part of every good meal, and for that, i just have to have animal flesh of some kind (fish count), almost every time i eat.
It was such a beautiful day today, perfect for grilling. I used my make shift grill I use for camping, right on the sidewalk in front of my apartment. Had some dank pork chops (3" thick) from the local butcher, corn on the cob, and some fried potatoes w/onions and mushrooms. All cooked on my sidewalk with wood charcoal. I absolutely LOVE my butcher. The chops I had today were out of this world!
I always find that to be very hypocritical. Welcome to consumerism. I love meat myself, but I don't give a shit where it comes from. Meat is meat, but you can't beat meat that you slaughtered yourself to feed and eat. Yo.
Actually, the cows on factory farms are fed gmo corn which is not what cows are supposed to eat. And they live in about 2 ft of piss and shit, are sedentary, etc. If anything supporting the free range stuff is more humane. Unfortunately I just buy what I buy.
I love meat and I care where it comes from but since I also understand that the amount of people who eat a lot of meat every day has caused the meat industry to develop this way. Now that there is a focus on organic and free range meat I could spend my money on meat for every day of the week but instead I choose to eat it only around 3 or 4 days a week as well! Not only to save money but also to serve the idea that if every meateater wouldn't eat such a ridicilous amount of meat week in week out animals in the industry could have a better life. So yes: This happens to me too. But I would definately eat my chicken first and not give in to the urge to also get a burger...
I roasted a turkey yesterday, then threw the carcass in the crock pot overnight to make broth. Made turkey noodle soup today, and turkey tetrazzini for supper tonight. I don't think I have ever been sick of eating a certain kind of meat.
tonight i bought some pepper steaks (inside round)...sliced them up into stir fry sized strips ...cooked em up quick fry style with mushrooms and dropped them on a bed of flat rice noodle :drool5:
How on earth is that hypocritical? I think it's more hypocritical to say what you stated and then say "but you can't beat meat that you slaughtered yourself to feed and eat" If you don't give a shit about where your meat comes from - ie you are happy to eat meat from animals who are imprisoned, pumped full of hormones and drugs, kept and slaughtered in any number of cruel and inhumane ways - then what is there for you to gain by killing it yourself and eating it?
Yo Wicked Witch, there is nothing to gain nor to lose. We live in a consumerist world and meat, just like electronics, is a consumer product made in a factory. Would you insist your flatscreen TV and smartphone be made in an environmental factory? If you are against eating meat, become a vegetarian instead of a hypocrite.
She did not say she's against eating meat? Limiting your meat consumption to only a few days instead of 7 days a week and to organic and free range is one of the best things you can do for the meat industry. Especially if the majority would do it. It doesn't have to be a consumer product made in a factory. But yes, it would be great if all stuff that goes in a smartphone and tv would be bound to environmental rules too. It seems a different issue though.
It is indeed a different issue, but I used it as an example. Eating organic meat will do shit to the meat industry, it just feeds your ego. And that is why I think it is hypocritical, because you are doing it to make yourself feel good, not because you care about some cow.
